Why aren't these scenes being played out in the world's media??? It's amazing that this could be happening with almost no coverage in the press.

I think we need to get somebody like O'Reilly or another person that has the heuvos to tackle an issue like this and demand some answers. After viewing those videos, doesn't it make you the least bit angry that nothing is really seeming to get done?

Photos and stories about this situation have been around for years, but not in the mainstream media. Some of the photos are indeed ghastly. A friend of mine visited there and she said it was pretty scary. Talk about gated communities! Payback can be horrendous. But I thought things were getting better?
OTOH
Don't mean to go crazily off-topic, but what about the situation in Iran?!
We went nuts when Iranians invaded the US Consulate in Iran, but we pretty much think we can do whatever we want.

No, actually these farm killings are a more recent phenomena, because the current government is going to seize something like 25% of the farmland from it's current owners by 2015 and these killings have been occuring with more frequency.
Listen, IMO this Iran thing is getting so overplayed in the media, etc. They can't say we're going to rule out attack on Iran, they basically have ALWAYS said that we can't take anything off the table. Obviously, we couldn't risk going into Iran, but we're trying to gain an upper hand in some way (even though this is not the course I would pursue). The philosophy of this administration is to never show weakness. I didn't think it was necessary for the prez to include that in his speech, but he did. The administration is just trying to find some way to bring to light that Iran is arming and training many of the insurgents in Iraq. As if we didn't know that. Anyway, we're not going to attack Iran, they're just trying to play chicken with the Iranians to see if they flinch. They've already been doing enough things inside and outside Iraq that essentially could be considered acts of war, but we don't want to open that bees nest, so we have been keeping it quite.

Honestly, payback? Just because there was apartheid 15 years ago, is that really even equivalent to almost Hollywood style torturous murders? These are rural farmers. These aren't city administrators that set discriminatory laws or anything like that and besides, there has been black rule for whole time since apartheid, why decide to start a killing spree of white farmers within the last 5 years? They have a death rate of 4 to 1 compared with the regular population and they are a small population of people. They have been brutalized, tortured, raped, and murdered. Payback...I suppose, but this wasn't happening to blacks during apartheid, this is a new phenomena. A very disturbing, very real phenomena that the mainstream media fails to bring attention to.

Kdizzle, plenty of terrible, awful stuff was happening to blacks during apartheid.
I have been reading about the farm murders for years now.
But I see what you're saying; it sounds like these deplorable incidents are not exactly random.

Nothing like this, with this kind of calculation and brutality was ever taking place under apartheid. There may have been isolated cases. Apartheid was very much like Jim Crowe and I'm not trying to defend it, but it wasn't the outright slaughter of blacks. These killings are definitely not random.
You are one of few people then if you have been reading about farm murders for years. I had not heard of this until a few months ago and haven't met many people who ever have. Both of those videos I listed are fairly recent and the violence has been increasing in the past few years. There are talks of even civil war because the white population there feels so threatened and is discriminated against by their current government, not to mention it is now the crime and AIDS capital of the world. Pretty amazing how a once 1st world country like that can transform practically overnight into that type of chaos. Sad state of affairs.

I probably would not have known about the farm murders if not for hearing about it on an international messageboard. Also my friend who visited talked about it with me, and I have met a few South Africans who may never return there.
Kdizzle, you've heard of Steven Biko, right?
And you are aware that apartheid came about only *after* slavery and indentured servitude were abolished?
If you google the Truth and Reconciliation Commission on the internet, it might bring out a few new facts about conditions in South Africa during the apartheid regime. Google Dr. Wendy Orr. Her conscience would not allow her to remain silent about the systematic torture of detainees. Google apartheid spy Craig Williamson, who devised letter bombs.
Some subjugation methods: Anthrax, cholera and botulus cultures, cyanide, aldikarb, thallium, paroxon, and a tear gas called CR, ten times more potent than CS gas...Lethal bicycle pumps, screw drivers, walking sticks and umbrellas were also utilized.
This is not to say that all white South Africans are brutal racists anymore than their black South African counterparts are all murderous thugs.
The farm murders are absolutely horrible, but so are the old scores--which apparently are still being settled.
