I can agree and disagree on that one. Yes it is hard nowadays for muslims and I find it appalling that you muslims are misjudged and disrespected by the ''West''. I disagree on the fact on being black is not the worst, as black people we are always subject to racism and tribilism not just from the West but from our own communities since slavery and that was about 500 years ago! ''the war on terror'' slogan has been around since 2001 (7 years) kind of a big difference. Blacks are viewed as uneducated, diseased, dirty and very poor, the people are exploited 'cheap labour'. Notwithstanding this we all are different and instead of judging and pointing fingers at each others race, colour, religion lets rather fight for a better future and learn to accept diversity, imagine if the rainbow was only painted blue how boring would that be???
fruitlassie - I have honestly thought of moving to Germany, work for an airline there advance my german only problem is it is extremely hard to actually get a work visa and residence permit ... i loved that lady at the embassy she is really the most gentle and kindest person you will come across, i asked her about the requirements for the residence to work permit and she started yelling in my ear about how 7 million people in germany don't have jobs and on she went ... i just let her vent off that excess steam and bid her a good day and good bye. I will try again though
I am still doing research and hopefully will find some place suitable. thanx guys .... oh and why stockholm??

Dali, the airline business is one of the worst businesses for a young person to try to start a career. The global energy situation will force huge changes in that business in the next few years, and the future outlook is bad for most airlines.
Here's the business that is booming: Solar powered energy. Germany is at the forefront of solar energy technology development and deployment. You live in Namibia, a country that for many years prior to WWI was ruled by Germany. Namibia has one thing in abundance, clear skies and a lot of sunshine. Can you get some education or experience in Namibia related to the electrical energy business? A local power company perhaps? And perfect your knowledge of German at the same time? Then, try to get a work-study grant to work for a limited number of years in a German company involved in solar energy, with the understanding that you could return to Namibia with skills and knowledge that can aid in solar energy deployment in your country. Many private companies take on people from countries in Africa for limited terms as part of a "giving back to the world" effort to share the benefits of modern technology. It is good public relations for them too. This turns you as a Namibian into an advantage instead of a liability, and also allows you a chance to return to your homeland with valuable skills and knowledge that could help your country develop.

Why not try America? I live in the US and Africans do not often suffer the same amount of discrimination as they do in Europe . The media hypes up the race issue with African-Americans, which will not affect you, since you are not a descendant of slaves. Africans have a very good reputation in the United States....
And as far as the posts whining about diveristy, how many racial minorites live in Africa? Thought so....

@dali_wami:
The biggest Airport here is Frankfurt/Germany. We live close by as well and I can only encourage you to go for it. Specially Frankfurt & surrounding areas are so multi- cultural and open and exciting - I mean I gotta admit myself- I met soo many people from sooo many different places here in this area, some I couldn't pin point you on the map where they're even from.
P.S. Unemployment rate is 2 mio not 7 - She should check her sources And many of these that are unemployed here had a very good reason why - Trust me I work in Intl company and we're dying to find good ppl that do speak/ willing to learn at least 2 languages.
Bottom line: We done it and jumped cross the ocean and I don't regret it and am thankful for the opportunity I had!

ThanK-You Angel .. I travelled alot through Frankfurt but have not really explored the city only went straight to the NRW region. I have family living in Essen .. and they say Frankfurt is really a great place to live in .. same as you and many others .. I'd love to live there and work for Lufthansa but here comes the problem .. it is really not easy to get a residence to work visa for Germany, I first need a job offer and probably a University degree .. do you perhaps have any job agencies, recruiment sites that you can recommend where I can register my CV online? Oh and regarding Lufthansa - you need to be fluet in german and need an unrestricted passport - I am restricted to a degree cause of my green booklet. Suryoyo : I have come to realise that we were born into a racist world and it is up to us to choose if we want to live in that world or simply create your own where there is but one race which is the human race:-) Also Europe can be racist but Africa just as much.. remember that you attract to you what you think. Shizzles : America?? I can honestly say that I cannot see myself living there. I also don't like the country much. So I'll skip the USA:-)

Keep in mind that media does not paint a realistic picture of race relations in the US. We do have a Black preisdental canadate as well as many successful Blacks here. Europe may seem tolerant only becuase there isn't as many people of color there. Look at the race issues in Paris for example, where immigrants are more prevelant.

I would go for a larger Western European city if you're worried about tolerance, like in the UK, Netherlands, West-Germany or France. Roughly 33% of people in Amsterdam for instance are of non-western background and more than 50% in Rotterdam, so I'll doubt you'll face much of a problem there.

I think part of the reasons why muslims are having a harder time in Europe is because of the bus and train bombings in England and Spain as well as the riots in France. If you choose to go to America to become a citizen and you're young and healthy you could join the Navy. Knew some Africans who joined the navy while I was in the service. One of the two was learning welding and plumbing being a hulltech. The other was practically a saint. He was a Navy Hospitalcorpsman, sort of like a nurse. While doing this he was studing to become a radiologist. He received his degree just before he left the ship. Depending on the job you sign up for in the Navy, you won't see actual combat like in the Army and Marines.
