they didn't need warships because it was an invasion by land. I'm sure they are practicing high tech "wired uniforms" that involved GPS devices and cameras on individual soldier's helmets similar to what america is doing in iraq. as for their aircraft, i don't think they needed to deploy their extremely high tech "UFO" like aircraft that they would need against a more formidable foe. Their MIGS do just fine against a weak nation like Georgia. That's the bottomline, they are picking on Georgia...not the Ukraine. I'd like to see them try to invade Ukraine...it would never happen.

Perhaps Georgia has learned a lesson, do not kill innocent people and peacekeepers or you will get your ass handed to you.

Yep, you hit the nail on the head. Georgia should have never tried to bomb those 2 breakaway regions.
and to the above poster.....Russia would invade Ukraine with ease.

Ukraine does not have nuclear weapons.
The former Soviet republics that did have nuclear weapons all agreed to surrender them to Russia in exchange for econopmic aid and to rid themselves of the headache of having them and expending valuable financial resources on them.
Consideirng one third of Ukraine are ethnic Russians and many Ukrainians, mostly rurual, do not support the western backed and urban influanced government, I think if there was ever any hostilities between Russia and Ukraine, there would be serious domestic problems arising internally.
