Of course, the real people of Paris are like the people of New York: snob, pretentious, enough cultivated, are going to the museum and art gallery with much money.
The french of South France dont't like very much the Parisians, but they're also pretentious because they live in the best nice area of France( with sun, beach)
In fact there are much people of all areas, who are going to Paris for work and there isn't real parisians in Paris

.........Of course the life is Paris isn't very interesting for the people because the price of apartments are in the top:example 1 bedroom,1 bathroom,1 kitchen==>300000 euros( =400000/450000 $$) and the life is too fast ,the city is too concentred

It's getting better and better. I met her first in 1980 trying to get a ticket to Madrid. She used to be everywhere in Paris but I think her kind are finally dying off .
|
Well, she's got a nasty little nephew in Gare de Lyon, keeps his calendar on the wrong month.
I'd agree with 'boredinTX' and not buy in to those stereotypes. You know, sticks and stones....

As many have already said, I think France is one of the most beautiful countries in the world. I also love Italy.
I didn't particuarly find the French rude, especially outside of Paris. Even the Parisans weren't any ruder than ,say, New Yorkers. French are extremely proud of their culture so that might irk some French when they see loud American tourists speaking to them in English. Like they are supposed to cater to the tourists in their own country.
Only thing that irks me about the French is that they tend to complain alot about everything. And they haven't realized that they are not a superpower, the French want so badly to have more influence in world affairs on par with US.

Best post IMO. What you say is true, the french would like to regain their power, unfortunately (at least for me) it's not possible anymore. As for complaining a lot about everything, you say that, whereas I think you do even not know the half of the motives of this complains ! ! The french people spend his time to whine about EVERYTHING for ANYTHING !

It does annoy me when US conservatives like Bill O'reilly bag France. I remember seeing him on the Jay Leno show talking about illegal immigrants and he made the comment that the reason illegal immigrants want to come to America is because it's such a great nation. Then he said "Do they want to go to France? No." Um Bill France has several thousand illegal immigrants you dimwit. It is very fashionable for the right wing in the US to attack France but what's funny is the French just don't give a rats.
On the other hand I find the French elite can be very holyer than thou about America as well. They were right about staying out of Iraq but this is a country that tested bombs in the South Pacific - not that long ago either. So get off your high horse. Their crap definitely does stink contrary to what some their elites may think.
Both great countries with bad elements.

Well, France and America were actually on one mind in days of yore about Bombing Serbia - what a shame for both of them.....

I think I'm the only French-speaking American who would love to visit France but has almost zero interest in Paris, for the same reason I have zero interest in NYC: it's too big. I could live with being transported in long enough to see the highlight sights, then back out to normal life. If Parisians were rude or abrupt, I wouldn't consider it a French thing; I'd consider it a big city thing, and further reason to avoid them. But I would very much enjoy traveling around France, seeing small towns where tourists don't go so much, trying new things, and getting to know the people who correspond to what I am back home.
