I don't think San Francisco is the mecca by any means. There are more alternative people in other cities such as New York. Also the gay rights movement started in New York (Stonewall). NY and Toronto have the largest gay pride marches in North America. So it would seem that this is just a stereotype of San Francisco.

I think I will prefer leave my "little money" here.

Now is not the time to come to America.. The unemployment rate went up to 6.1 (I know its still lower than Brazil). You will be competing with Americans for the available jobs. Of course, some cities are better than others. Some fields better than others -- for example if you are in Finance it will be hard to get a job in New York. As a truck driver they may be a shortage but you will need to be certified and you need to do your research. There is a reason why people are not becoming truck drivers -- high gas prices are eating into their profits!

Oh my good friend,
You cannot believe in the products made in Hollywood. Hollywood is a factory of illusions and mistakes. First you must look for to know people and their cultures before say anything. Don't believe in hollywood. NEVER!!

and my friend I am giving you the SAME advise to you. NEVER believe everything you see in American movies, TV shows, etc. America is not crime ridden everywhere. Transexuals are not rampant in San Francisco. Serial killers are not lurking around every corner. The middle class are not lining up in droves in front of welfare offices. There are now parts of the south bronx that look like suburban areas, etc. etc.

I have many americans friends living here in Rio de Janeiro. But, without to want offend you, we cannot ignore the crisis in the american economy. It's a normal happening in a globalized world.

No worries. Perhaps I misunderstood you, but it was hard not to when all I could see where negatives (serial killers, crime, etc). So perhaps be careful what you post - ok? I know you love Brazil. People should love their countries. Its a good thing!

And I am confident a solution will be found for the current financial issue. I have funds in the stock exchange and I am not overly concerned. I have confidence in the long term viability of the American economy.

I know you want to migrate here. Now is not the time. Actually there was an article in the paper indicating that the number of people migrating is down and perhaps it was the economy. Smart people. I'd wait a year and see how things go. Or try Canada, they are more keen to recruit migrants.

I was reading recently that many Brazilians had immigrated to live in Massachusetts(of all places) and many made a U turn after a while to go back home. I think the USA is going to slow down any work permits or immigration to protect jobs here for it's citizens, so no it's probably not the time to come.

I think you have to realise that most americans really seldom think about Brizil. I have visited and liked the people but really don't think much more about it;sorry if that disappoints.
