real black does'n exist
I hate it when people talk about ''real'' black women and that they are not pretty. Just lik darkskinned ....
Since when are all lightskinned black women mixed? Everytime there''s a tread about black women (not only here but also youtube, other forum etc.) people starting to talk about of she is mixed or not, and talk about here features ect. And with every black women considerd beautiful they think she has to be MIXED. I'm african but lightskinned, but people think al black african women look like THIS
Its not that I dont think she's not prettie but african women can also look like this
the last women is ethiopian btw. the first is sudanese. the seccond nigerian
And when they look like this (the etiopian and nigerian) one people think she cant be so called ''real'' black.
I'm african also, and lightskinned. There was this male how just wanted to believe I was real african! (and he was african also!)

In western media, almost all of the africans that are broadcasted are either in tribes who look like the 1st picture that you posted or kofi annan. that's about all we see in the west so a lot of people who can't think for themselves assume that all africans are like that.
the media mis-portraying things is a big problem in America.

The reason why people look so different is the world has very few isolated peoples. What about white people? The spectrum of color, features is huge. From Irish to Greek is just as great as your ex of Sudanese to Ethiopian. Ethiopians have a looong history, historically there was alot of trading with arab and asian nations. So in their past their gene pool had alot going on. Like blacks in the US with slave ancestry, tend to have "hidden" white ancestors too. Look at China, from my vantage point in the US they are all "Chinese"...but really what a wide swath of ethnicities there are, and it shows in their many faces.
Thanks for bringing this reminder up.

I have to agree with At1WithNature. As a young black girl growing up in America, I believed the media. It wasn't until I started meeting people from different parts of the world that my views changed. The western media still has a tendency of only showing Africans living in huts, and starving. The media fail to show the real beauty and development of Africa including huge range of beauty in both Africa men and women. It's great that information technology (internet) and travel allows us to explore and expand our own knowledge and understanding.

Ethiopians, as well as other East African ethnic groups, are Aethiopid, not Negroid like most African-Americans, that were taken from western, central and southern part of the continent. Besides, African-Americans have white admixture. The one-drop-rule assimilated white (and to a lesser extent, Amerindian) admixed blacks, whether or not it shows in the phenotype or not.

Say what? Given all the mixing throughout the years in the US I am used to seeing a WIDE variety of "black" women. People like Imam (probably mispelled), Oprah, Halle Berry, Condoleeza Rice, Maya Angelou and many more.
Africa is a HUGE HUGE place with a wide variety of people. North Africa in paticular has a really cosmopolitan mix as it has been mixing with Europe and points further east for a long long time.

Well in much the same way that skinhead attack in Germany or a Mafia bomb in Italy will get our media's attention and vice-versa. Those are interesting incidents. but not indicative of the millions who get up, go to work and then rent DVDs on the weekend i.e. most people lead ordinary if not dull lives.
But let's be honest. There is probably more human suffering in African than anywhere else. And those who suffer usually live in huts and starve- hence the suffering. There are certainly plenty of ordinary people, but again, its not newsworthy.

Oprah and Condoleeza Rice were born in Africa? I did not mean "African Americans" I meant Africans.
