Best Country to Live In?
Living in the u.s. it seems this place is a sinking ship, many are looking to jump over to Canada but I hear it's not much better there.
While I don't expect the world to get better any time soon, where do you think is the best place in the world to be living right now?

The US followed closely by the UK. There are other countries I absolutley love travelling to....but wouldn't find it practical to live in.

I live in Spain and am looking to move over to the US. Im originally from England, and whilst there are certain things that I miss about it, it's definitely not the best place to live right now. In fact, its probably one of the worst! New Zeland is supposed to offer a great quality of life. Ive never been there myself, but Id like to go and check it out one day!

I don't know anybody going to Canada. I know a lot of people want to come here legally or illegally. Your premise is flawed.

The US. I know a few Americans threatening to leave the US if McCain becomes president but I highly doubt they actually would go through with it.

The U.S. is still the best
Even though we have problems right now the grass is still greener here than in the rest of the world. Please tell me where the whole life experience is better than here??

Whoa! Where is the whole life experience better than the US? Where do I begin? France, for starters... then UK...both countries with great free-at-the-point-of-need health service, civilized attitudes to social issues, lovely countryside, culture galore....I could go on and on!

Comments such as this always give me a giggle Then I wonder how many other places one has lived to form such an opinion.

It's not exactly free, we do have to pay higher taxes and you often still have to pay a co-fee on prescriptions. And I wouldn't necessarily call it "great". It has it's benefits but many people feel that NHS nurses are understaffed, overworked and underpaid. And the NHS is known for it's long waiting lists. I could go off on a long rant about how my husband sat on waiting lists for 7 months (and was too ill to work during that time) before he could be diagnosised and treated for Crohn's disease but I'll refrain.
I caught someone on TV once comment "Yes, everyone gets the same health care with the NHS... everyone gets the same BAD heath care". I'm not denying it's benefits... but I wouldn't go so far as to say it's "great" or "free".
As for civilized attitudes, I could certainly tell you a few stories to change your mind, lol. There's rude and polite people in every country.
The UK does have a lovely countryside but I think the US is just as great in the way of nature, landscape and countryside. We have a greater variety of landscapes in the US but the English countryside is certainly worth seeing. Of course catching it on a nice, sunny day is the difficult part
I think the history is what I love most about the UK.
