Glasgow? Are you sure your talking about the right one?
I've lived near Glasgow all my life and it has culture, fine dining, beautiful architecture, excellent shopping and nightlife.
Edinburgh is alright for tourism but lacks everything that Glasgow has.
I do believe alot of people sterotype Glasgow but if you actually get to know the place you'd be suprised at what it has to offer. It has changed alot since the old days

I lived there for 6 or 7 months and couldn't take anymore but before that had visited many times before as I used to have family that lived near Glasgow but moved, I just found it a depressing city probably the weather didn't help. I haven't been for about 2yrs so unless its changed significantly over the last 2 years, I just found the place to be a scruffy and much of the city seemed very deprived. The nightlife and architecture were fine just like any other descent sized city.
Edinburgh seems very clean and a great city for sight seeing but I have only ever visited Edinburgh.

The weather can get people down but its better to visit in summer. I visit Glasgow quite alot but only the city centre and west end. I guess like every city there are bad parts but i found US cities worse, especially in the South.
Edinburgh is alright but theres not as much to do, I stay regularly as my cousin has a penthouse there, in the city centre.
I noticed your breaking through into the US where are you moving to?
My fiance was born in MS but lived in GA, KY and SC before moving here, he loves it here though. Some parts of the US are alright but i've never quite found a nice area that i could move to. Perhaps its just the places i visited.

I knew before moving there that I wouldn't like it because of when I visited family etc I didn't like it but I had to go luckily I got the chance for a transfer down to London after 6 months or so. But if this was a thread of the 10 worst cities I'm sure Glasgow would be my 1st I just found it a horrid place. I got the impression Edinburgh was quite small but then again Glasgow didn't feel huge.
I'm not 100% sure on the exact location yet it will more than likely be on the westside but I gave them the option that I was willing to relocate anywhere if need be.
Not sure where you been in the US but I have visited quite a few states and liked them all.

I have been to upstate New York and NYC, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama and Mississippi.
Out of all most were ok but I didn't think much of Mississippi i couldn't live there, even if i was paid to.
The Carolina's were probably my favourite though i'd love to see more of the Western states like Montana, Idaho etc.

Yes, it has changed. Montreal's nightlife and clubbing scene puts most US cities to shame. Montreal is actually "the place to be" nowadays. The only competition for it when it comes to nightlife/clubbing/dating are NYC and Miami.

I'm sure there is no bias in this post ....
I've been to Edinburgh and can say that it has ALOT of charm and history. So does London, and there's much more to do there. I don't know if you can say one city is better than the other out of the two as they're so different.
Also, I was in London for 5 months and didn't run into any trouble at all until I visited Edinburgh for a weekend. A couple drunk locals wanted to fight my friend and me in a pub, and the rest of the locals told us we'd better leave-so we did. No sense fighting people that have who knows how many friends there. That said, I actually like that about Scotland-the fiery attitude. Wouldn't want to have been there for 5 months, but I was, I'd be a hardened street brawler by now lol.

Well I don't want to do through all those replies. You know I always get here late.
That's a pretty good list. No you didn't put San Francisco ahead of New York. I would have put NYC as #1. And I would have took out some cities such as San Diego and New Orleans and San Antonio (i live there but comparing to the rest of the world??..) and added Austin, Miami, & Hong Kong. I would have put some others down but I really like the list you have!
