It is not, it is an attitude you find in rural communities.
Jantelagen does indeed exist pretty much all over the world. The difference when it comes to Scandinavia vs. "the rest of the world" is that in the Scandinavian countries, this isn't a rural rule of life. This is something the ENTIRE populations lives by. That's the difference. And it is indeed a huge difference.

Compare the way of life in say the US, compared to that in Sweden, Denmark and Norway...

A huge difference, isn't it? That's the difference between when rural communities live by Jantelagen, and when the entire nation lives and breathes it.

Mr_Jonas will become famous soon enoughMr_Jonas will become famous soon enough
We have different experiences obviously.
I do not think that Jantelagen is that obvious in Stockholm or Uppsala. I really have not experienced that the WHOLE nation lives and breathes it at all.

I live in a city with the poppulation of 72,596. A tad more Jantelagen mentality then in a Swedish city by that size.

I doubt that you will agree with me, but this is how I see things and I have lived in the USquite a bit (4 years in the 90's, and now again since 2002).
