Better question would be "have you ever been out of it?". Its not really attractive. Interesting, fun, but not attractive. I enjoyed myself there quite a lot (the people were some of the nicest/friendliest I met in England), but I came away feeling sorry for it more than anything.

Rotterdam is certainly no worse than some of the German cities that were mutilated in WWII. Dortmund, Essen, Cologne, Hamburg, Stuttgart, Berlin (I could keep going) come to mind.

I think it's funny, BTW, that a couple of people mentioned London as being ugly. There are substantial numbers of neighborhoods in the West End (a very large area) that are some of the most beautiful urban neighborhoods on the planet.

I took a bus through Stockton, California once and have never seen a city in Northern California look so trashy. Every building I passed, the paint had all peeled off of the buildings, and the streets looked dirty and abandoned; it looked like ****.

omg, people! You all ve traveled a lot!!! I envy you (in a good way )!

I havent had the opportunity to travel much yet. I ve been in USA, Brasil, Uruguay and Argentina (and thats it).

In USA i ve been living in

Minneapolis :its not an UGLY city, but it has a 1984 esque vibe with all the snow -i lived there january and february- and all the similar houses and the bridges in the downtown. It kinda look like a city from the future. The future they talk about in books like"a brave new world" and "1984" so not a good thing. Souless.

Los Angeles: Lovely landscapes (mountains, sea), but, again, a city with no soul. No pedestrian allowed?? Too many highways, its like the coldest city (and im certainly not talking about the weather) ever. Too bad cause its got a lot of potential to be a great city, but its built to be an awful one.

And visited:

Las Vegas: I was there when i was 18 and with my friend we walk around Las vegas till 4 am in the morning in the wintertime. It was a lot of fun, lots of lights and crazy people gambling. But this is not my cup of tea. Just a place to visit when you are 18.

Miami: I was there when i was 15 for a brief period of time so i dont remember much, but i do remember that i didnt love Miami, but we went through a lot of smaller Florida beaches that were much more preetty.

Orlando: well, i only went to disney there and i loved it! So i cant say much more about it.

In Brasil:

Rio de Janeiro: Some great parts, the montauins, some beaches, but overall not impressive. The food was AWFUL, and the Caiprinha was wonderful . Angra dos Reis, wich is some miles away from Rio (i dont know if its considered a part of Rio) was paradisiacal and beautiful.

Buzios: Lovely and beautiful little beach community. Great nature and landscapes, warm sea. Great to go on vacation.

In Argentina (i will only list the prettiest places i ve been to cause if not i could be writing till tomorrow )

Bariloche: beautiful patagonic town, with high mountains and wonderful lakes. Its landscape its perfect, the montauins, the lake, the green and the vegetation. In the winter with snow and skying its also lovely.

Córdoba: again, lakes, montauins, wonderful weather all year! Great place to visit. It mixes the amazing nature with a big exciting city life (Cordoba has 1.5 million of habitants and its a wonderful city)

Iguazú falls: Probably one of the most impressive landscapes of the world. I went there when i was six and im still shocked as this falls that might be declared on of the "7 natural wonders" of the world. I wish i could go again in the future.

Buenos Aires: Absouletely the most beautiful city i even been in (i havent been to europe or NY, maybe that explains it). Argentina is a big country with tons of impressive landscapes that i have visited, but i stick with this caotic, crazy city as my favourite cause its wonderful cafés, its vibrant multicultural life, its stunning architecture, its amazing cultural life, its 2-bookstore-per-block, its incredible squares and all the crazy people from around the world that live here. Im not from Buenos Aires but i choose to live here cause all that i ve said and more...such a great city.

But im really hoping to travel around the world much more and take that first place off Buenos Aires soon!

From what i ve seen:

Prettiest :
Buenos Aires, Argentina

Ugliest:
Bahia Blanca, Argentina.

From the cities I've personally seen, I've found Nîmes (France) the prettiest and Glasgow the ugliest.

Prettiest or Most Beautiful as I prefer is Sapporo, Japan.
The city is very enchanting, stunning and gives me a bittersweet feel which I really like.
The landscapes are majestic. A perfect blend of modern architecture & traditional ones.
Nature and buildings compliment each other very well. The climate is enjoyable.
Only in Sapporo, I enjoyed a harsh winter.

Ugliest or least pleasing as I prefer is Jakarta, Indonesia.
It is so congested, dense and very crowded. In many parts of the city, poverty is rampant.
You wouldn't dare walking alone in some streets at night. It's a city of paradox in a bad way.
