the enlistment is for seven years, you need to have 20/20 vision, the pay is only about 700.00 per month, and I think the age limit to join is 45 years old. If you do join, the legion will provide a French translator, it is reccomended that you speak at least passable French. After you complete your enlistment the United States requires that you pay back taxes on your earnings. contrary to popular belief The Foreign Legion does not take all applicants, you will need to be in fairly decent physical shape.

You go to aubagne (closed to Marseille) you sign and you are in. That's all you have to do. You even can come in France without any id papers, they don't care.

i am going to france this week end and i go try for the french legion as well i heard that the training is pretty tuff some one can tell me if they accept you evn if you have cocaine in your system and how long cocaine stays in your blood or system?

The LE's actually pretty selective of late. Picture a room filled with tough military vets, only a small fraction of whom will actually get in. They don't have to recruit criminals.

all of the officers are french, only the grunts are foreigners, and they will teach you french during basic training
