Why do people from around the world care so much about who wins the presidential election in the U.S.? It was really strange to watch the news last night. About an hour after the election the news showed reaction from around the world; in France, UK, Italy, Germany, and some Asian countries to the reaction of B. Hussein winning the election. People cheering? People in Europe were more excited than we were. Why? Do people think he will be better for the world economy?

Because Obama has stated he is going to double foreign aid. They have their hands out waiting.

Because what Bush has done has effected the rest of the world too, and Obama has expressed a desire to try to fix some of those problems.

Please, us industrialized countries don't need financial help from the US, so don't keep trying to make it into that.

Apparantly you're not American either. I'm used to people talking about others using their first and/or last names. Never met anyone that addressed me by my first initial then my middle name. Weird.

This is a joke right? I mean, really? You think people in Germany are cheering because of the huge amounts of foreign aid the average citizen expects to recieve? Hmmm...

This was an historic election. America had lost a lot of respect, credibility, and admiration under GWB. The rest of the world feels hope now- light at the end of a dark tunnel. America spoke and elected a brilliant mind that represents achievement over rogue cowboy mentality that was so damaging to our country.

For all the "patriotic" sentiments that America is the greatest country in the world, why would you now downplay the significance of this event? So much cynicism and anger and negative energy from a certain type of American that always seems to chant "USA, USA" with their fists in the air with that arrogance and bully mentality. This is the attitude that pissed off the rest of the world.

I'm surprised anyone has to ask that question. Especially on more than one forum on this site. My 15 year old nephew could answer that question.

Well no actually. The rest of the world is hoping they don't have to lend the US as much money to fund another financial crisis.
