Default International Schools

This may or may not be the place, but I'm extremely interest in teaching abroad at some point in the not too distant future -- as early as next school year -- with Europe being my preferred destination.

Anyone familiar with the international school job market understands just how competitive it can be, especially in Europe.

Contacts seem to be imperative for anyone wanting to enter the market.

That said, I'm wondering if anyone here knows anyone that's either directly or indirectly involved or connected to international school personnel on any level. Anyone that could help my get my foot in the door in any way.

It's a blind shot in the dark, but I'm motivated, qualified, and hopeful.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

I live in Madrid where there are many international schools both English and American and they are looking for native speaker teachers all the time. I suggest you at their websites and get in touch directly.
Just a few names of international schools in Madrid:

Runnymede College,
British Council School
The American School
Numont School
Kings´College
ICS
Hastings

There are also a number of American University such as St Louis University.

Good luck

Thank you for the helpful response, Hutch.

I'll be sure to look into each of those schools.

Contact the American Embassy or Consulate in the countries that are of interest to you. A lot of time the spouses of the diplomats teach or sub at the schools so they would be aware of openings etc.
