Well. Los Angeles would be a ideal city if

1) its downtown looks like a normal downtown, safe, dense, livable and vibrant
2) it has great public transit.

Unfortunately neither will happen any time soon. Guess no city can be perfect, or even almost perfect.

LA and it isn't even close for me. Tokyo is too dense and too crowded. LA has way better beaches, weather and cuisine.

How does LA have a "sprawling skyline"? Lol. Even Sydney has more skyscrapers than LA.

I'd go with LA. Not into large, skyscraper-ridden cities.

I'm pretty sure Japan does not allow too many non-Japanese people to become legalized residents of Japan.

Considering Japan's severe lack of racial diversity and the fact that most of the people who contribute to the C-D Forum, for the most part, they place alot of value on diversity because of the improved quality of life and culture that diversity brings to the region.

I couldn't help but be surprised Tokyo is ahead of Los Angeles by such a large amount votes in this City-Data Forum poll, considering Los Angeles Metro is one of the most diverse regions in the world and Tokyo is one of the least diverse cities in the world.

I think diversity becomes an issue when whites make up an overwhelming majority of a cities population. Nobody talks too much about the lack of diversity in American cities such as El Paso, Laredo, Brownsville, all in Texas, Jackson, MS, Detroit, Michigan, Camden, New Jersey or Gary, Indiana.

But if a city is predominantly white by quite a wide percentage margin, it becomes an issue with the liberals, and, eventually the liberals will have most people thinking it must be a racist city and if a person likes living in that non-diverse city, then that person, his or her own self, is obviously a certified and bonified racist.
