Example please. I have seen racism here in the US and I have never seen that anywhere else.
between the olympic Chinese photo they did with pulling their eyes at the sides, to what goes on in soccer, racism on black players I think you have a couple examples there.
i haven't been to Spain so i can't say whether it is more than other countries. it's also hard to tell by interacting with people on the internet since most of them are on Spanish language sites.
you can easily find examples on sites like youtube of people from different countries making fun of the country another user is from if they get into an argument but with people from some European countries like Spain the first thing they tend to make fun of is the other persons race. Americans tend to look a bit more racist than they are just because the fact that they all speak English first which means they carry a heavy presence on mainstream sites, and their numbers. in countries without much ethnic diversity there would be more racism and hostility towards other people just because they're different. that could be the case with Spain.

If you never been to Spain then you do not know what you are talking about.
What I have experienced here is people who trully believe someone from a different race is less of a human by virtue of race. Very shocking. I had an adult look at my 3yo foster dd like she was a rat because she was of Mexican descent.

You are describing xenophobia. And yes I agree it exists in Spain but I haven't seen it in the area where I am from. Maybe because it is more rural. Many towns were dying until the immigrants revived them. We are very happy they are there.
Could you elaborate? What do you consider racism?. I think it probably was xenophobia.
Xenophobia: Fear of foreign things.
Why would the Spanish fear people who are from only 10 miles across the Mediterranean?
How do you know what is in their minds regarding the N. Africans? Who are you to presume that one is racism while the other is fear? Don't you think that fear is actually a main component of racism?
I spend time in Costa Rica and the Spaniards most definitely look down on the Ticos as some kind of inferior race of tainted Spaniards.
This is the widely held opinion of the native Costa Ricans.
America has a race problem, however, it isn't as potent, as one will see in parts of Europe, especially Spain. Lets not forget, America does have a biracial president, who see himself as a black man. Though, that doesn't excuse the history of race relations, it does show that mainstream America, is getting over the race. As a black male, I would rather live in the Deep South, than in most parts of Spain. Euro nations like to see themselves as "liberal" when it comes to immigration and race, but in practice, they lag behind the US.
Can the standard of living in Spain compare with that of USA? What are predictions of Spain vs. USA in 5-10 years? What are wages like etc?
grax por todo!
The standard of living does not compare to the U.S.; however, quality of life might, depending on what you want.
Wages are considerably lower than the U.S., and housing is very expensive compared to these wages. Where you might, as a 35 year old, live in a 2,000 square foot house on a 1/4 acre yard in (this part of the) U.S., furnished with a plasma TV, garage with 2 cars, and a small boat or some "toys", you'll likely be living in a perhaps 1,200 square foot "piso" (apartment) in Spain, which you'll struggle to buy. Unemployment, low salaries, and the very expensive housing (and culture of homeownership) pushes a lot of Spaniards to live with their parents well into their 30s, delay marriage, and have very few children.
Many consumer goods are also more expensive in Spain. Gas is more expensive, though not as expensive in other parts of Europe. The tax burden is much higher than the U.S. Generally, American people are more pleasant in certain respects than Spanish people, although this varies across both countries.
On the other hand, in Spain you'll almost surely have a much longer vacation period, assured health care, much more beautiful city centers (although not a more beautiful house; probably an apartment block), quick access and cheap flights to all the delightful places in Europe, fresher food (e.g. bakeries everywhere...from wherever I was when I was traveling through Spain, I could walk an amazingly short distance from my house to buy fresh bread and sweet pastries), etc., etc.
Whether Spain or the U.S. offers a higher quality of life (rather than standard of living, which is solely economic) is very dependent on individual tastes and preferences.
Spain is a very very racist country. I watch a lot of European soccer and everytime a game takes place in Spain and someone of African descent touches the ball the stadium erupts in monkey chatter noises. If you don't believe me watch a Spanish soccer game and notice all the rebel flags in the crowd. Remeber back during the last olympics when the Spanish basketball team posed for that pic making fun of the way Chinese people's eyes look?? If you don't...here it is..... http://asianamericanmovement.files.w...p-584-5321.jpg
