Because they are now in their towns. Also most Spaniards do not travel much.

I grew up in Spain and I visit my family every year. I have noticed the changes due to immigration and I remember asking my grandmother and her friends about it. They were happy to have young people in their town. The town was dying.
Racism is a deep rooted believe of one race superiority over another. You know how you now you live in a racist society. When you hear a child say to you "I wish I were white like you". It broke my heart when my former foster daughter told me that. She is third generation born in the US of Mexican descent.

I do not know anything about Costa Rica but I do now that there is a lot a racism is South America.

Euro nations like to see themselves as "liberal" when it comes to immigration and race, but in practice, they lag behind the US.

I disagree. I had a neighbor who had a biracial child and her boyfriend could never take her home to visit his family because of their racism. This child also told the boyfriend he wished he was white.
Racism in the US is not blatant by it does exist. When arrived in GA for college I was shocked to see that the cafeteria in my colleges was segregated as well the dorms. One of my classmates did a presentation of how sometimes when her and her husband would be out in a bar people would call him n***-lover. And by the way racism works both ways blacks are very racist too.
Have you felt treated differently in Spain because of your race?

I understand what you're trying to say.
However racism in US is way more subtle and hidden and they can do a lot of harms to the victims legally, like the subprime mortgages.

Racism can and is usually, a bi-product of xenophobia. It didn't matter if the man in question had a criminal background, he attacked someone because of the fact she is a foreigner and isn't consider by some to be of "pure" Spanish blood. He clearly saw her as a someone who didn't derseve any sort of rights because of her racial, ethnic, and foreign background; that is racsim and xenophobia, working hand-to-hand.

It doesn't make it right, however, one will never see this type of attitude at an American sporting event. To see fans, yell out racial slurs, holding signs that mocks a player's background, or hearing them yell out animal noises, is something that wouldn't be tolerated in the States.

These seem to be isolated incidents, rather than the norm. For everyone family that disown a member because of race, there is one that will accept him/her. For every cafeteria that is "segregated" ( usually de facto wise ) there is one that is intergrated. America does have a race problem, but again, it isn't as mainstream as one will see in parts of the world. Race is taboo, in the States; it is just something many people wouldn't want to talk about. A lot of people around to world will look at America as a place where racsim is rampant. However, America is the first major Western industrialize nation, to have a minority, win a Presidential election. That is way more than what Europe, can say.

That part about pure blood is something you made up. There is no such a thing as pure Spanish blood. Spaniards are a mixed race. Again I grew up in Spain and my pale white skin was a pain because I could never get a decent tan. My older sister even asked a dermatologist about her inability to tan.
I agree it was xenophobia.

I agree. But there was a time that blacks were not allowed to play at all.

I guess it doesn't matter how many incidents I list you will always say it is just the rarity. Now keep in mind that I am only saying this is the situation in GA and AZ. I do not generalize and say the entire country is the same.

People in Spain love the Rebel flag, you see that flag everywhere.
People don't perceive a relation between the flag and slavery in the US, and if they did, I don't think they would care. The confederate flag is the symbol of a Italian and a Spanish southern soccer teams (Southern Pride). There are also many Rebel flags in Country Festivals, we have a bunch of those.
As to the monkey chatter noises, what can you expect from football hooligans? They call Catalans "Polacos de mierda", "Mother-e-ffers" and throw them coins, and Catalans hooligans burn Spanish flags to p.i.s.s Real Madrid. Hooligans are not people. They make monkey chatter noises against black players of F.C. Barcelona, but they don't make noises against their black players. They call Basque players "ETARRAS", "asesinos", etc..
Football Stadiums are some sort of "relief valve" here, the typical store owner or bank teller that behaves in a normal manner during the week, becomes a real hooligan for a couple of hours. Such behaviour is/was tolerated (in some instances). The behaviour is tolerated as long as there are no killings, firecrackers, fights, etc.
I prefer them to vent their anger and frustration there.
As to making fun of the way Chinese eyes look, what's wrong with that?
As to the killing of Palomino, it was a fight between a Nazi and a "Alternative Squatter". Just the same crap with a different label, they should let them fight to cancel each other, or better, I'll force them to plant trees in the middle of Castille.
People here are more natural and they are not so full of s.h.i.t.

Spaniards are not a mixed race. Spaniards have the typical western european looks and genes. The ethnic groups include Mediterranean, Nordic, and Celtic types. British and Irish are closely related to Spaniards.
Your "pale skin" in Spain would be average or maybe darker than average.
