Somali Pirates.
the Somali pirates are getting worse and worse but a few have been captured and interrogated. They worked on them for days but all they could get out of them was,
"ARRRRRRRRG" !

Kill em all!
Ever see Black Hawk Down and what the Somalians did to the US Special Forces?!?!
See what they did to their own people which was the reason why we went there?!
I wouldn't bother to interrogate these ****s as they deserve to die. They wouldn't think twice before taking a gun to your head and pulling the trigger.
I feel bad for the Innocent people that live there and that are starving.
For some reason in the US people think terrorist have a right to fair trial and we shouldn't torture them. Bull Crap....We should dish it back ten fold.
I may have gone of topic...sorry...but this crap makes me angry.

I can't link to this, because it was a print article in the Economist a couple of years ago. They interviewed a girl who was born in Somalia, was evacuated to a refuge camp in Sudan for a few years, and then moved to the US tas a refugee and went to school in Georgia and New York State. One of the things she said was "The cruelest place I've ever been was High School".
If any of you would ever travel anywhere in the world beyond the security gates of the resort hotels, you'd find out that a vast majority of the people in the third world are very decent and honest and gentle and caring people.

have you even seen a documentary on Somali? that is one country that I really don't think has a resort town.
come on now, take a look at the place and tell me you would feel okay walking around the streets socializing with the locals.
Pleeeeez.
Some 3rd world countries you may go to, but don't expect to come back.
Everyone stress over high school. Kids are mean. So she would rather have grown up in war torn Somali starving than to live life in the US?!
Give me a break.
Of course there are decent folk out there that don't want to be in the situation they are in and they are honest and kind, but showing my ass over there will cause me to be dead in a second.

I just love the fact that "sea pirates" actually still exist in today's world. Talk about awesome ...

It is really sad this stuff goes on, it makes me sick that people try to downplay the horrible things these people are going through. Of course there are great people in these countries, some maybe geniuses, but it doesn't mean it is safe to visit with all the other scum.

Sorry, I don't judge a country by the documentaries on cable. And I sure as hell don't judge them by how many resort towns they have. I've been in more than half the third-world countries in the world, And there isn't a single one that I would not go back to.

So plan a trip to Somalia and let us know what you think.
Curious, do you travel for pleasure or is it for work. I think it's great that you go above and beyond the "resort" type places as you will find the true culture of people which must be really amazing. I do envy the fact that you do that. I would scream, faint then die at the first giant spider. I hear in Iraq - brother served there, they have camal spiders...yuke!

I've always paid my own way, on my own time, which explains why I do it on the cheap.
I was at a hotel in Zaire, where as soon as it got dark, the spiders would rush out and start building webs right across the walkways leading through the gardens. So if you come back to the hotel a few hours after dark, you'd need to watch for spider webs in front of you, with spiders as big as your fist sitting in the middle of them waiting for you. Very few spiders in the world are poisonous.
