I think of the city of Kyoto; I think of soaking in an "onsen" with steam rising from volcanic heated pools viewing the blush of wild azaleas high on the mountain; I think of school children with back packs following their teachers and guides in orderly but excited groups on school excursions; I think of street vendors and mom and pop stores and I think of bowls of Hakata Ramen; I think of friends and family; I think of the green of May...water everywhere and rice paddies being planted....I think of train rides.....and most of all....I think of the kindness and generosity of the hundreds of people who make me feel so welcomed. I saw Tokyo and Japan last Summer.

Uhm..I think...

- modernity , young cities, and wonderful transportation
- Akihabara (electronic district) and massive skyscrapers, bright neon lights
- many people, rigors and cleanness
- Mt. Fuji
- Kimonos-Geisha girls
- Sumo wrestling
- Disneyland
- anime and Hello Kitty
- Torii and shrines
- impossible language
- bad food (for me)

Unknown Memory will become famous soon enoughUnknown Memory will become famous soon enough
Japan / Electronics R Us! Mobile phone use capital. Clean almost spotless roads. Conservative and conform, but at the same time, not so. Wacky. Crazy. Polite. Tacky. Idealists. Some of them can't get out of WW2 phase (much like the surrounding Asian nations). Random English words = cool. Whaling. Perverts. Low birth rate. High suicide rate. Animation. Comic books. Video games. Horror movies. Gothic Lolita fashion. Shinkansen. Pachinko. Smokey arcades. Mt. Fuji. Baseball: Tigers vs. Giants.
Tokyo / modern, huge, Disney kingdom, over-crowded, highways, crazy crossroads, Sony, shopping paradise, expensive, huge, Akihabara, Ueno, Odaiba, Mitaka park, Studio Ghibli Museum, homeless people by the train stations, Cats Livin'
Osaka / lots of tall buildings, lots of walking, foreigners a plenty here, giant kani (crab), crazy multi-floor electronic store, Hep Five, Universal Studios
Hokkaido / a more laid back looking Japan, lavendar, hot springs/baths capital, music boxes, seafood, colder, bus/taxi travel is the way to go, stand alone pachinko building, a lot of Book-Offs

Woah. That went longer than I expected. O.o
