Has been a long time since I was there in 1951-52.
Based upon the current pictures I would never recognize where I had been in the past.
Of course what I saw was the left overs after WW11.
Do remember Mt Fuji as I was at a Army tent city camp on the slopes.
Rode in a boat on Lake Yamanaka...drove a jeep thru Yokohama...was on the Ginza in Tokyo...travelled up to Sendai on the tip of Honshu...visited Sasebo for a few days...nothing real tremendous.
Have thought of returning for a visit to see the new changes.
Also have Googled up the places I was at (maps) recognized nothing.
Best I leave my memorys as they are.

Some of you realized of course that the Japanese system favors Japanese wives fleeing their foreign husbands so the latter would never see their children again.

3. Okonomiyaki-This was an absolutely awesome food to eat there! Japanese sure know how to prepare food very well.
4. Very beautiful ladies(both on the inside and outside). Having a Japanese wife would make me jump through the roof I'd be so ecstatic!!!
5. Some very good heavy metal groups in Japan.
6. Japanese cartoons.
7. Lots of green and nature
8. Most of all, I like to think of Japan as my favorite country for sure

I remember seeing a building near central Osaka where an elevated roadway actually went right through the 5th floor and came out the other side; it has a hole in it in order to accommodate the road. I can't recall the name. I think it was pronounced something like "geddo tawabeeru" or similar in Japanese.

I've never been to Japan so excuse my ignorance:
Anime (Best thing produced in Japan)
Excellent high quality cars and electronics in general
tsutsumi (gift wrapping, how do they learn that stuff??)
Kimonos
bad welfare system for the elderly(Older people stealing food)
Crowded small apartments
younger kids who are way more relaxed than Americans(based on the Japanese people I have met)
