The Music of the People of Brazil -- Today
My guess is that the music marketed to the world is not necessarily the music enjoyed by the people. Rap may not be my first choice of music, but I do respect socially conscious or poetic rap artists' ability to convey the social situations, concerns, hopes, and dreams of the people. Being a poet and a budding singer-songwriter, I would really love to know if there are any Brazilian "neo-soul" artists or singer-songwriters who share their life experiences in Brazil through music, song, and spoken word fused with music and song. Fernanda Abreu, for instance. ("Eu Quero Sol")
