Folks, let's limit ourselves to civil discussion of the original premise rather than wandering off into the minefield of nationalistic chest-beating and personal attacks.

If I were to actually go to Canada and break the law, then yes, I would be ready to be arrested by Canadian Police. I don't see how people think that having a NAU would mean abandoning any sense of the United States. Just think of the EU. When you go to Germany, you're not going to get arrested by Spanish police. Each country has their own language and culture, it's just they have a common currency and some common rules.

I think NAU would be a bad idea. Just imagine the mass immigration into the former US from former Mexico. I think all 3 countries' governments would have to be WELL prepared for a NAU.
I just really don't want to see it though.
Personally I think the US will get out of this and all of this economic turmoil will be over with in a few years.
I thank God I'll be in school for the next 5 years. And I'll get to see this whole thing from the Japanese standpoint for a couple of those.

No way. America is going through some changes and globalization to a certain extent is necessary. But to enter into another agreement so we can remove barriers that protect the American worker I am definately against. We have already given enough to show we are a good neighbor and fair partner in the world econonmy. I dont think we are as bad off as the drama stoked up by the media suggests. All these economic theories supposedly proven with supply and demand curve graphs and models are speculative at best. Were having a cylclical recession exacerbated by 911, Katrina, Housing crisis among other problems. We will recover.
My wife and I could quit our job right now and go to just about anywhere in the midwest and most of rural America and find jobs at a walmart or the local casino. Check the local real estate market and find a 40 with an old farm house for less than $700 a month.
The American Dream IMO

No way would I tolerate a NAU. The government would then be guilty of treason.

Actually more and more Americans are retiring in Mexico, if you haven't noticed. And the drug cartels won't go away until we resolve our drug problem (supply/demand).

Cabolisa, you are absolutely correct. As a matter of interest, I've been interested lately in moving to Loreto Mexico. Beautiful little town. Lovely in every way. ...as to the drug cartels--I think the Mexican Government needs to get a handle on that. But don't ask me how. I've no idea--all I could offer is some silly platitudes.

Legalize them. Problem solved.
Tobacco and Alcohol cartels don't seem to be a problem.
