What European cities or best for music Disc Jockeys?
Hello every one I am an American Disc Jockey and a College student.I am considering moveing abroad to one of the more popular party cities in Europe.I would like to place my self in a city where I can make money as a DJ doing small Private Parties,Weddings,Banquets, and Celebrations I also want to attend college as well.I have heard that Spain is a great location for DJs and school, but I don't know if it is true. All advice will be greatly apreciated. Thank You!
I'm going to be irritating and widen your choice massively.
First off, forget Ibiza and Mallorca, because you quite clearly state that you want to go to school also. Ibiza and Mallorca are like going to school in Myrtle Beach or Cancun...
There are a lot of parties and a lot of schools in Europe. Thinking about parties AND school, my list would go like this (not in any order here, just random):
Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Barcelona, Madrid, Seville, London, Manchester, Birmingham, Brighton, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Bristol, Dublin, Paris, Toulouse, Bordeaux, Lyon, Milan, Rome, Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Antwerp, Stockholm, Copenhagen, Gothenburg, and if you were feeling a little adventurous, maybe Moscow.
I might add some slightly leftfield choices too: Zagreb, Athens, Leeds, Valencia and Frankfurt.
Yeah, Rotterdam is populair, many trend clubs ..even Amsterdam people and British go to there. Dj Tiesto lives in Rotterdam.( awarded as the world's best dj before Armin van Buuren was given the award because tiesto didn't want to have it again)
That list of littleandoften is pretty true i think.

Hamburg might be good. It's Europes biggest non-capital city and has lots of night life. I think Laurent Wolf lives there
After Istanbul ( in Turkey, city locatedboth Europe and Asia) and St Petersburg ( Russia's second city) then.
Compared to those Hamburg is just a small town.
Rotterdam alos has the largest outdoor event after Berlin's Love Parade, the Fast Forward Dance Parada wich attracted close to 500,000.
Rotterdam is currently going through somewhat of a renaissance, with some urban renewal projects featuring ambitious architecture, an increasingly sparkling nightlife, and a host of summer festivals celebrating the city's multicultural population and identity,[neutrality disputed] such as the Caribbean-inspired 'Summer Carnival', the Dance Parade, Rotterdam 666, the Metropolis pop festival and the World Harbor days. There are also the International Film Festival in January, the Poetry International Festival in June, the North Sea Jazz Festival in July, the Valery Gergiev Festival in September, September in Rotterdam and the World of the Witte de With. In June 1970, The Holland Pop Festival (which featured Jefferson Airplane, The Byrds, Canned Heat, It's a Beautiful Day, and Santana) was held and filmed at the Stamping Grounds in Rotterdam.
The self-image of the city is that of a no-nonsense workers' city. In that sense, there is a healthy competition with Amsterdam, which is often viewed as the cultural capital of the Netherlands. There is a saying: "Amsterdam to party, Den Haag (The Hague) to live, Rotterdam to work". Another one, more popular by Rotterdammers, is "Money is earned in Rotterdam, divided in The Hague and spent in Amsterdam". An other saying that reflects both the rivalry between Rotterdam and Amsterdam is "Amsterdam has it, Rotterdam doesn't need it".
Rotterdam has had a rich hiphop scene since the early 1980s. It is also the home of Gabber, a type of music popular in the mid-1990s, with hard beats and samples. Bands like Neophyte and Rotterdam Terror Corps (RTC) started in Rotterdam.
Well-known Rotterdam based DJ’s like Ferry Corsten, Michel de Heij, Jay Samuel and Speedy J are playing gigs all over the world. Although each of these guys have their own style there is definitely something that could be called a ´Rotterdam Style´.
The specific ´Rotterdam´ sound can be enjoyed in many clubs. Deejays like Michel de Heij, Ronald Molendijk, Jay Samuel and Benny Rodrigues represent this ‘Rotterdam style’ and add a harder edge to their deejay sets. Of course there are many other sorts of dance music to be heard in Rotterdam clubs. Whether it’s Latin house tunes at ´The Thalia Lounge´ or german electro house at Herr Zimmerman, there is something for every clubber. Large venues like NoW&WoW and .off_corso offer ultra trendy glamour like parties whilst smaller clubs like Club Vie and Club Rotterdam have a more laidback feel.

Rotterdam has many great hangouts especially around the harbour areas where you'll find a wide selection of restaurants and bars. As soon as the weather allows, pavement cafés appear, so you can enjoy a drink or a bite to eat whilst watching the world go by. Rotterdam's club scene is renowned in Holland and fast gaining a reputation in the UK. An abundance of bars, clubs and quirky galleries can be found in areas like the Witte de With Straat and Binnenweg in the heart of Rotterdam.
Amsterdam is also a good place to party with most clubs open till 4-5 in the morning. Amsterdam also offers a wide range of music venues. Try and catch a performance of the Netherlands Philharmonic orchestra that performs in the Beurs, a turn of the century stock exchange. In June the city hosts the Holland festival-opera, orchestra and dance performances.
Many foreigners don't know abour Rotterdam yet, cause most tourists heard about Amsterdam.
But many music styles where founded in Rotterdam. Rotterdam is rebuilding out of the ashes of WWII and is even rebuilding from rebuilding now, therefore the city was not a tourist destination, it's a city with tall buildings so many non european tourists who except East Asians don't know the city don't got there.
East Asians mostly know, many in Singapore etc know it, cause it was their competitor with the wolrd's biggest port and because of intensive trade between Rotterdam with Singapore, Hong Kong and Shanghai.
But in N-America many don't know the city very often, yet Rotterdam is a city where 16 million Europeans departed from in the past to find a better future in North America before and right after WWII via the HAL ( Holland Amerika Lijn = Holland America Line)
City spends more then Las Vegas on fireworks last year, the budget surplus of the city is spend ont he poor and fireowkrs and massive events. Itr has many of the largest Dutch open air festivities and some of Europr's biggest.
Caribbean Carnival is the third biggest after Rio and Lonodn of the world with one million people. So i maybe gave you a new surpising city.
The city has an enormous waterfront and lots of spacrious area's, Downtown is as large as Midtown Manhattan, pretty big for a city of that size...of metro area of 1.2-1.8 million. It's very cosmopolitan, also because it's a very important city for teNetherlands economically, so it attracted many cultures and immigrants, it's a kind of little New York in that sense. Go clubbing in Rotterdam - Clubbing - Clubbers - Rotterdam - Netherlands - Holland*-*Rotterdam Tourism

Clubbing city of the Netherlands: it is a title that Rotterdam has won for itself by the explosive growth of the number of cafés, restaurants, clubs and discotheques over the last twenty years. Rotterdam is the cradle of house and dance music, a fact that is clear from the very high quality of dance parties and clubs. Famous locations for parties include club Maassilo, and the trendy in-crowd of dance effortlessly gravitates to clubs like Off_Corso and Herr Zimmerman.
I know all about Rotterdam, cause i could help people there in case they are interrested.
