FlyingDutch is on a distinguished road
You're welcome!!

It's true it's one of the countries where English is spoken the best outside the Anglo Saxon countries. But many don't speak it on sucha high level.
Many dutch do want to speak English to you.
It gets different if people now you stay in the Netherlands, not as expat, but forever and you wouldn't learn Dutch, then people get irritated and wonder why you don't learn the language.....that's what i think.

German and Dutch are mutually exchangable for a big part, but sometimes you can also go wrong there.
Same words, or almost, different meaning.
The younger generations dropped German and French, many are only into English. It worries the goverment and educational system,c ause talking many languages was one of the advantages of the Netherlands as place to put your HQ as foreign company or as a tool for international economic competition. But most use English anyway.

Dutch is not easy, the grammer in particular is a thing that is probably difficult, cause there are many exceptions to the rule you just have to know.
The tongue may be hard to to many foreigners.

Thanks about the imigration issue, you're right Alogon.
I hope it will go better, it certainly needs time.
It would be good if goverment would allow a little less right now to integrate the others better and not flood the system so much.
It's best for everybody, for the current immigrants, for the newcomers in the future and for the Dutch themselves too and the system as a whole.
