Do you ever just want to move out of the country??
Hello All... I've long been fantasizing about just selling everything, packing a couple of bags and moving to Costa Rica. I'm planning a trip for a week or two at the end of this year and can't wait. I just feel like I'm destined for something like this - a big move.
Do any of you ever feel the same? Have any of you ever just sold everything and moved to another country?
If you did, was it a good move, are you glad you did it?
Any adventurous sorts out there who feel the same as I do??

I feel exactly the same , andreaspercheron - as you know it, I'm in Europe, but all the same.
However, I'll wait till I can collect my social security retirement -as a safety net- that means at 60, in 6 years (I'm going to turn 54).
Then, I'll sell my flat (worth today the equivalent of 200k$, I'm in a HCOL zone , maybe I'll have inherited -I doubt it, my old man hates me and has sweared he wouldn't leave me a cent- and hopefully I'll find a property to buy somewhere in Latin America....but some say CR is getting more expensive by the day (?)

I did that...sold our stuff and moved from USA to Australia. I had a great time and met some great people, but came back after a few years. I don't regret the move, the experience alone was worth the cost of moving back and forth.

I have thought about it.
Because it's crowded here in the Netherlands and we lack beautifull ture, like the green hills, mountains etc. that many countries enjoy!
Economically there are not many places i can think of that would be an improvement.....a few exceptions, like Norway for example.
I'm a little in love with Vancouver, British Columbia. ( Canada)
In Germany i feel comfortable with the people.

"Defiantly" indeed. What is there to say, compare all places I lived feature by feature with US? Nah, that's too long of a story, too much work. I'll leave it as a bare bones opinion.

I am going through that phase right now. I think it's natural if you're the curious explorer type, sticking around in one place for many years you start wondering what it would be like somewhere else and there is this big world out there and the possibilities seem endless to experience something new!
I think for most people who have kids it is not practical but for those of us who are single and unattached I don't see what is stopping us

The US is fine for the years in which one takes advantage of the ability to indulge unrestrained greed, but when it comes to retirement and old age one definitely wants a civilized country with real healthcare and few gangs terrorizing elderly people.

Earning a living is not "greed." Would it be better if I was on welfare and depending on handouts?
And why didn't someone tell me I live don't live in a "civilized" country?
