Post News, The world’s strangest laws.

When studying up for a trip to the Holy Land, you might come across this warning: Whatever you do, don’t take a bear to the beach.

Americans expect to experience some difference in laws when they travel the world, but some laws we found just sounded insane.

But other laws — such as keeping your headlights on at all times while driving in Denmark — are in equal parts surprising and real. Get caught, and the resulting fine could run about $100 (and the entire EU may adopt the law).
This is the law in all of the Nordic countries. My hubby has a hard time accepting that because of this, the headlights are ALWAYS on as soon as you turn the ignition key (he keeps turning on the high beam, which is NOT legal during day time).

Kangaroofarmer, that bale of hay - do they actually carry it at all times? What a cute idea!

That law is a left over from the 1800's. When horse drawn coaches/carriages were a common sight. Drivers were required to carry a bale of hay onboard, in order to feed their horses. However, when the Motor car was introduced to Australia, they never thought to update the law!

I'm not sure in which Australian state this law still exists? But it's no longer enacted upon! As it's such an outdated and pointless law now!

Don't worry. You won't find police officers fining modern taxi drivers, for not having a bale of hay in their cab's boot (trunk).

When I once asked them why they had *that law* in Sweden (1982), the person I asked, looked somewhat strange at me, knowing that I was from California, and said, "you ask me, while we copy your laws ?". Then he proceeded to tell me that California had some *daylight headlights on* laws, which I then started to remember. Yep, we did have some areas that were *headlights on* all the time in certain areas that had a high rate of head on collisions.

A while back, I did have an American made car that had daylight head lights on all the time.
I do not have one now, but I do turn my headlights on all the time.
There is now law against it, and if it saves me from some idiot running into me, I will continue to do so.
I have been totally accident free for over 25 years.

The craziest law that i think has ever voted in whole world is the one that voted in Greece recently, after the violent riots' destructions of December. This law prohibits the wearing of HOOD and the offenders can be taken to the police station immediately. Rain is not an excuse...

I believe that only applies during protests, not at all times.
