Moving to Northern France from suburban Denver this summer
Hello all I'm moving from Denver (I live in Lakewood) to Tours, France, which is about an hour from Paris. I realize there are going to be some major differences but I was wondering if anyone who has lived or even visited the northern region of France (I've never been there) could comment on the region as compared with Denver. I'm espeically concerned about the weather, Denver has beautiful summers (lots of green, blue skies, HOT temps and lots of pretty girls out and about ). How's summertime in Paris? For some reason whenever I picture weather in Paris/Northern France I can't help picturing everything being cold, foggy and cloudy.
Thanks a lot!

The weather in northern France is about the same as in southern England.
The good side though is that winters are seldom very cold, only rainy like in the PNW.
The worst are the cultural differences I think , between Denver and the French province it's another world!

The summers are usually warm, with thunderstorms at the end of the period
W°)nthAnicyclone of the Azores is dominant, you can have a continuation of sunny days, which culminate in thunderstoms and then cooler temps (19°/20°) and then temperatures soar progressively (25-28°C) until the next thunderstom, following a steady pattern between June and September. Not too bad altogether, quite balmy, but not for people who enjoy dry weather and permanent blue skies...

Yes. Be prepared for culture shock.
You may or may not have AC.
And bring a speedo. (NOT kidding.) Are you just there for the summer?
Do you speak French?
The thunderstorm pattern sounds a lot like Denver's.
Tours (and the Loire Valley) will probably be greener than Denver. I say this as a 54 year old who spent more than half my life in Denver. People don't really know what green is until they leave Colorado.
Our kid, born and raised in Denver, has spent several years there both in the north and south, Paris is easily his favorite--as you know, it's just a train ride away.
