Paris or London???
Alright so me and my family of 5 are going to Dublin because my sister is going to med school there. For the first 6 days or so we'll travel Ireland and the city. My parents will then help my sister get settled while me and my older sister (im a guy btw) want to see one of these cities, for maybe 3 days. Im 16 and she'll be almost 20 and we need to travel on a budget!!! We're thinking of about 500 canadian (around 400 us but who knows what it'll be in august) each, including the return flights (we'll fly back to dublin and then to toronto).
so what city is better and more afordable and has more sights to see? language really isnt an issue. We were in french immersion from k-6 and both took it up to 11 grade (and i'll be taking 12th next year)

Paris for sure - Ryanair has cheap flights, and I'd go there over London anyday. Keep in mind that August will be a slow month in Paris, as everyone is en vacances...
just for fun I checked fares:
€ 49.89 Price breakdown Price per person R/T (Taxes included)
*1 Passenger
OUTBOUNDWednesday 12 August 2009
Shannon (Shannon) 09:30 Paris (Paris Beau... France 12:10 Low Cost Economy 0 Stopover
INBOUNDFriday 14 August 2009
Paris (Paris Beau... 17:45 Shannon (Shannon) Ireland 18:25 Low Cost Economy 0 Stopover
50 euros round trip good enough? Bon voyage!

WARNING
Don't (DO NOT) fly ryanair with your family , you're going to pay a crazy AMOUNT of Luggage fees , I paid last summer for a roundtrip Beauvais-Girona for 2 adults 349Euros, that makes about 400 Bucks! "cheap"indeed....
And don't be fat and don't do to the loo, they plan to make you pay for that too...

I agree RyanAir has got to be one of the worst airline in the world. Their basic prices are incredibly cheap but they will charge you for literally anything extra. Their customer service is the worst in the world ( in fact I don't think they have one).
I will never , ever use RyanAir, they are vile to their customers, they rip you off, treat you like dirt and if you deviate from the "norm" whatsoever ( disabled, have kids, too fat, any luggage etc...) they will bleed you dry whilst making you feel like you derserve to be dead.
I have actually travelled to a more inconveninet airport with Easyjet and then taken a train to my final destination rather than use this poor excuse for an airline.
Michael O'Leary is a greedy, nasty, selfish bastard whose sole concerns are to line his pocket with no regard for his customers.
EasyJet is the way to go. Much more efficient, friendly and not so disrespectful and contemptuous of its customers. The difference between both companies is a chasm .

NEVER AGAIN. I would rather canoe across the channel and walk on my knees than use Ryan Air ever again ( OK, OK "la sardine ... again but you catch my drift). Basically unless they are the only airline who can evacuate me out of a war zone I will never step foot on one of their planes again...

@ Mooseketeer : here my own terrible personal experience with ryanair :
last summer in Catalonia we were mugged the last day of vacations (luggage stolen) and we arrived at Girona airport (with a 8 yo kid) 5' after the end of check in but 35' before take off to Beauvais. I thought that as we add no luggage to check in , and given the circumstances, they would allow us to board the plane.
THEY REFUSED.
I had to get back to Paris by my own means.
Thereupon I wrote to ryanair headquarters in Ireland a letter asking for refund of the flight or at least a gesture from His Excellence M O'Leahy and his bunch of thugs.
8 months later, I'm still waitting for an answer

Yep , sounds about right. The terrible thing is that I am not even surprised nor shocked... RyanAir will "mug" you financially every way it can and all with the courtesy and finesse of a thug with knuckle rings...
