I'm from Australia and have been to the Gold Coast about 7 times. I also have always wanted to visit Miami and travel all over America. From my perspective, Miami seems better

Miami

Because the Gold coast while fun it's more comparable to Myrtle beach in terms of culture, architecture, entertainment.

While Miami is an actual city that offers actual city amenities.... (from sophisticated museums, high cuisine, beautiful stunning Art deco tropical style architecture, everything a big city has to offer)

The gold coast is a long strip of beach with massive amount of hotels and glass towers with casinos, bars, and drunk people.... no art deco, no multicultural like miami, bad australian food and more) plus its too far away, to underpopulated!

Miami has 5 million people in the metropolitan area, gold coast 500,000

Gold coast better food?

Miami is the capital of Latin fusion cuisine, you walk in Miami from neighborhood to neighborhood and it's nothing but Caribbean-Latin-Southern deliciousness..... Gold coast offers vegemite!

Gold Coast is to be compared to Myrtle Beach South Carolina (they both have about the same population 300,000 people), the same kind of tourists (anglos with their wives and fat daughters), and amenities (casinos, pubs and places to get drunk)

Miami is to be compared to coastal tropical cities with multicultural populations and fancy architecture! (Havana, Rio, and the likes)

Come on Irene, just like every other post you make about Australia it's laughable in its ignorance. Did an Aussie bloke knock you back some time or something?

Brisbane send you a kiss
The wellfare system in Australia makes it a lot better for who lives there.

They are both pretty trashy places, but the Gold Coast can also be extremely scenic and beautiful.

flight of Jakarta - Denpasar (Bali) approximately 2 hours, Bali more closer to East Indonesia (Flores ) is only half an hour flight than Jakarta.

When I here the term "Gold Coast"... I think of Chicago. Lived there few a few years. Visit yearly. Running North of their Downtown up Chicago's Shoreline is lined with Skyscrapers on one side and Parks, Harbors and Beaches on the other.

Gold Coast of Chicago begins downtown by the triangular John Hancock building and winds around Lincoln Park in the Middle. Buildings then still continue up the rest of the city's North Shore. Planes landing from the East and South, fly a similar path up the Coastline of the city. This is part of what you see.

ALL THE SHORELINE HAD TO BE REMADE BY MAN. Most was not there when the Great Chicago Fire of 1871 Destroyed most of the city. But a new plan to recreate a Coastline came to reality and new city.
COULDN'T RESIST WHEN I SAW GOLD COAST...

I live in Fort Lauderdale and visited the Gold Coast, albeit in 2004. Australia is much cleaner and safer, its what Florida should be.

I am not a fan of humidity. Australia's Gold Coast wins.
