Default Afghanistan's only pig quarantined in flu fear

KABUL (Reuters) - Afghanistan's only known pig has been locked in a room, away from visitors to Kabul zoo where it normally grazes beside deer and goats, because people are worried it could infect them with the virus popularly known as swine flu.

.....The pig was a gift to the zoo from China, which itself quarantined some 70 Mexicans, 26 Canadians and four Americans in the past week, but later released them.

I find it quite reassuring in a way to see that Afghanistan can be just as quick in over-reacting to the threat of Swine flu as Western Nations. With all that is going on in the country you would think it would be the least of their worries.

Poor thing though, all on his own...

It's probably best for the pig. He is probably harrassed every day by visitors. So although it is stupid to lock a pig up because someone thinks they can get the flu from it, i'd consider that pig lucky.
