THANKS!

once upon a time, in quotations please, there used to be at least two or three breweries in almost every small town, they all "died", victims of creeping and growing globalization...

btw. let's take the "ignoramuses" to a nice biergarten here to continue the discussion... i'll have a radler, please.

OH, the troops left? When? Last time I checked they were still there? And yes, They do very much know the difference between water and beer.

The American beer you get outside the US is rubbish. Bud, Miller etc. In the US its classed as "economy". I've only been in the US for 6 months but the stuff here from real US breweries are excellent. Flying Dog, Magic Hat, Sierra Nevada, Sam Adams...I could go on for ages.

Yes, there are many quality beers brewed in the US, but I don't think any of these brands are trying for a world market. I like Augsburger brewed in Potosi, Wisconsin.

Really? Where in Europe are English-style ales, Irish stouts, Koelsch and Alt, Berliner-Weisse and Munich style Hefe-Weizen, Belgian Dubbels and white ales, etc, etc, all available in the same town, much less under one roof?

In my experience, beer in Europe is quite regional. I challenge you to go to a pub in Dusseldorf and order a Koelsch (or order a Dusseldorf Altbier in Cologne).
