LAX without a doubt! Very rude and unfriendly custom/immigration staff, dirty, chaotic, plain and the shops/cafes are absolute crap! Absolutely hate LAX and do whatever it takes to avoid going there. Always try to use San Francisco.
I can't believe that no one has mentioned Atlanta. I just flew through there--of course, I had a flight that conncted via Atlanta--and the first thing that I noticed was everyone talking about looking at the moniters to make sure that their departure gate hadn't changed. Afterward, I met a guy who told me that, on one occasion on a layover there, his departure gate changed 5 times!!
I totally agree with you.
This airport is such a big place it takes ages to get from one gate to the other. Great when it changes all the time, isn't it? Even worse when you have been traveling all the way from Europe and are tired out by the journey and the time difference...
That brings up an important point. To my experience it largely depends on the terminal. Airports are usually expanded during time, with the new terminals being often a showcase of splendid architecture and refined boarding/baggage/transfer/etc. processes. Barcelonas T1 may be used as an example... or Londons T5. Both being quite nice and totally different to the rest of the terminals.
Location: Washington D.C. by way of Texas. Maybe Chicago next year

Terrible terrible airport. Good luck getting anywhere driving around that airport. It's a nightmare. The terminals are terrible. The little people movers are always packed and they suck. It's too small for the amount of travelers that uses this airport. It simply sucks. Fort Lauderdale is a much better airport.
I hate LAX, you have to go outside security too much. I can get to any terminal in many in other airports all without going back outside security.
I went through LAX last Wednesday. Terrible. TSA are totally hopeless. They are three times slower and more inefficient than any other airport in the USA.
If I were a commercial airplane pilot, I would vote Toncontin Airport in Tegucigalpa, Honduras as worst. Here's a video of the approach to the airport, and notice the mountains that appear in almost all directions and how the plane is constantly turning while making the decent. Even on final approach the pilot is flying just above a hillside to get to the runway, which looks to be the only flat land in sight.
