but do .... check what i got in my mail today, and it does make me happy: there is still hope:

I lived in Europe for 6 years, I saw lots of cars, I can also find lots of the same food here and we have no shortage of BMW and Ferraris in California. The price of gas was much higher in Europe so you see a lot more small cars in Europe. Not all of us care about Nascar, I am more of a MotoGP fan. We have two MotoGP races a year in the U.S. so I will watch that instead of Nascar. I will take American football over soccer.

was this meant as a joke?
in EU we dont have shopping malls, we just have castles and art museums AHAHAHA.. i really do feel sorry for people like you
i assume you are an american?
our GDP per capita is lower because we have included all those eastern european countries - most western european countries have a way higher capita than the US. take where i live, for an example - the GDP per capita is 30% higher than in the US.
sadly, a lot of people here are dependant of cars, too. Though not as many as in the US, which is why our air is cleaner, too.
you have MTV and Hollywood... we have "euroculture?".. you have macdonalds.. we have pasta?.. atleast you further confirm the fact that americans have a lower IQ level than most other developed countries, I guess.
in europe the lifestyle is a lot more relaxed. we are more succesfull than the US when it comes to money - our economy is way larger.. so we don't need 3 jobs, and we get plenty of holidays every year. and if we fail, we still wont have to live on the streets (the amount of hobos i saw in the US was utterly disgusting).
we eat whatever we like - if we one day want a hamburger at macdonalds, we eat one - we dont make it into our lifestyle. (do i need to post that picture? if you want it, google "europe vs usa")
if we one day want to go to the cinema and see a movie - we do that (very often american movies as you guys are the only country in the western world that puts as much effort into making movies) - we don't make every new movie a huge part of our lives and read about it and try to find gossipp about the actors. at least not nearly as much as you guys do.
we just live our comfortable lives (much higher living standards than the US) and do whatever we like. Many people use public transport to and from work, no stressfull ques in the morning or anything.
its because there are so many people like you in the US that many people here are anti-american. But in reality, we don't really care. we just live our lives (with way higher living standards, more holidays, less stress, more variety) and chill out. maybe you should stop worrying about what is the better nation, and try it yourself though itd be harder, as you live in the US where you get very little holidays and often need 3 jobs to survive.

His statement regarding shopping malls was a compliment to Europe. I would have thought that you would have been chillaxed enough to see that.

According to the IMF the US is number 6 in the world. There are 2 European states ahead of us and they are Luxemborg and Norway. All other European countries have lower per capita GDPs. Are you simply making things up?
Also, In regard to certain European nations bringing down the overall economy of the EU. Would it be fair for me to say that same about certain American states which drag down our economy?
For example Massachusetts, my teeny little home state, has an economy which is roughly equal to that of the entire nation of Norway.
California's economy would be as big as Italy's.
However, Louisiana is roughly equal to the Czech Republic. See what I am getting at?

Please include your air monitoring statistics that prove this.

Wow! Classy. The word "Hobo" hasn't been used here since the 1930's. The people that you so eloquently called hobos are homeless people who are much more likely than not, mentally ill. Paranoid schizophrenics, manic depressives, etc. The safety nets for these people are in place they just choose not to use them. There is only so much that you can do for people like this. They simply do not want to be helped. The ones who are not mentally ill also more often than not, choose to be where they are.
Now what was it that you said about American IQs?

In reality, a very small proportion of Americans eat at McDonalds. I agree that too many Americans are overweight

The word Paparazzi comes from Italy and do I need to remind you that celebrity worship began and has found fatal results in Europe?

Why should we care what you think?

You exhibit an astounding ignorance of America and Americans.

Hey Norwegian,
You are not even related to the topic being discussed, so stop the non-sense insults.
"The topic is United States of America and the European Union".
Norway is not a member of the European Union.
Norway is not used in the formula to determine the average GDP per capita of the European Union.
EU Members:
27 countries: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, UK; note - Canary Islands (Spain), Azores and Madeira (Portugal), French Guiana, Guadeloupe, Martinique, and Reunion (France) are sometimes listed separately even though they are legally a part of Spain, Portugal, and France; candidate countries: Croatia, Macedonia, Turkey
https://cia.gov/library/publications...k/geos/EE.html
Work on that attitude...

EU being completely white is not actually true. Germany, the largest country within the EU, have accepted a large number of immigrants in the last decades, primarily from Turkey. Larger members, like Great Britain and France, also got a growing number of non-western immigrants.
As some have pointed out earlier, the avarage per capita GDP in the EU decreased after expanding the union to include Eastern states.
The car free society is not a great depiction of the EU. Smaller, and more fuel-efficient cars may be more popular but Europe have got serious issues concerning rush hour traffic and pollution. Countries like Germany, France and Italy have a high number of people working in the auto industry.
Euro culture is a very broad definition. It is true that European culture is diversified but Hollywood (and MTV) got a strong appeal in Europe as well.
