Do you believe the world will end 2012?
Just curious.

For some people, yes, the world for them will end in 2012.

If the notion is the the world will *end*, then what is the use preparing for it, and living through it ? (according the this guy Patrick Geryl)
Will the World End in 2012? - ABC News
*The new century would bring about total destruction, and no one would survive*

I used to have a digital watch that only went as far as 2009 ....
Uhmmm.... how different is that from that so called Mayan calender ?
Somewhere it does not add up.

I think there's a giant conspiracy involving the Tooth Fairy, Jimmy Hoffa, the Freemasons, the Trilateral Commission, Skull & Bones and my neighbor Tony. However, I have them all fooled. All my baseball caps are lined with tinfoil, so those suckers can just bring it on. Plus, if Tony's gone I have dibs on his riding mower.

I suppose I can't technically rule it out a 100%, but basically I'd say the world is no more likely to end in 2012 than 2013 or 2025. Overall I'd say the possibility is very remote.
Going by what I know scientifically the world will end in about 4 or 5 billion years when the Sun expands melting it to nothing. Although moving toward a more restrictive view of "end of the world" there's "end of the species." Homo sapiens sapiens is, by higher estimates, a 150,000 years old. As it's fairly average for a species to live a million years, I think I read that in Science Daily or PhysOrg or something, than our species may not end until 850000 AD. Going by worst case scenarios of global warming we die out sometime in the 25th century I think. Going by major asteroid collisions possibly 50000 AD.
BTW: I'm largely on Science Fiction forums. Even published at a place called "Bewildering Stories."
