Ultimately, it all starts with the individual. You try to keep you life peaceful and not make things unpleasant for your neighbors while working hard toward your goals and if everyone else follows suit then society will be great.
There is nothing inherently wrong with religion (I'm an athiest, btw, but people can believe whatever they want to) or capitalism. It is that when certain parties turn it into a hustle to the ill of others that problems arise. Human beings are all selfish to one degree or another. It is how society either moderates it or channels it that will determine how functional it is for the greatest number.
2 ways we can make america better. #1- control capitalism. #2 reduce religion.
Totally agree! Plus remove the money from politics! People like Bush should not be elected to lead a country. They are not qualified and they put a serious hurt on our country.
I tend to disagree overall with this,I agree that there are instances of abuse.
From what I see those who say capitalism is wrong, alot of times want more government control to stop it.But when has government not been greedy also?
Religion,in this case I'll defend Christianity.People will pervert the meaning, that does not mean that the pure word of it is false or untruthful.
You say people must act independently yet what you propose would lead to less individuality and more thought control and lack of a willing to better ones self.
I tell you what ,everything you have is not yours, everthing you labor for will be taken from you to those who really need it.Any thing you invent will be the governments. The state is your god,all wisdom comes from the mighty and all knowing chairman. All that you have (or most likely dont have) is becuase of the generosity of the wonderful leaders.
yeah
what is so telling about this is that while America is not a utopia, every country that has promoted no religion and a controlled economy has failed with its people desperate to leave, some who came to America and love it here. And that certain countries that promoted this system pilaged its people for the war machine and industry. The only people who prospered were those in certain high positions. And then used that war machine to conquer other lands for their resources, like Tibet and Afghanistan for example.
And Im pretty sure that womens abuse and homophobia was all to common in those countries ,only there they get sent to a work camp.

I am of the opinion that much of what is wrong with the U.S, is caused by large corporations and business interests. Thus, if the United States promoted more small business initiatives, it would be healthier in the long run, economically.
The big corps. are bleeding the country dry, everything they do is to please the almighty stock flippers. They then take the $$ they make, give incredible salaries to CEOs who then outsource to other countries.
Jobs in big companies are going away, yet the big corps. are getting more and more influential.
I would think it is rare to see a small business outsource outside the U.S.
And yes, keep religion out of it. Most people that complain that there is no religion in the government don't understand that the founding fathers did this to protect "religion from the government" as well as the protection the government from religious influences.
Would you want the government telling you which religion you need to be, like in other countries?
Just my 2 cents.
I immigrated to the U.S., and I happen to like it the way it is. If I cared about living in a place where people rode bicycles around, I would have gone to Holland or China. If I wanted socialism, I would have gone to Cuba. I like America's capitalism and family values culture.
I feel there should be a little more seperation of church and state... there are also some major alliance issues that US should step back and take a look at.
I think one major thing would be a cap on political donations and amounts that candidates can spend on campains. In my opinion that is where so much of the corruption begins. The whole idea of "you scratch my back Ill scratch yours" BUT who knows.

Well, first of all...since we haven't had an elected President in office since before 2000, we need to elect one so we can continue our progress and forget about the lousy nonsense that's been going on for several years now.
Second, we need to rebuild government from the ground up. It's gotten way out of control. There's too much secrecy everywhere. And I don't mean installing cameras everywhere. I mean "real" checks and balances performed by and for the people. Cronyism is a huge problem in America.
