The GEOGRAPHY GAME (buy, vacation, island)

I play this geography game with a friend from work where basically you relay facts about a place/country and he tries to guess. Our rule is no googling and I know I can't expect everyone to follow the rules...

So I thought I'd just throw an obscure fact and see if someone knows the answer... feel free to throw in an obscure fact and see if you get a correct response..

HERE GOES..

This small pacific nation is made up of several islands will eventually disappear due to global warming (high seas). New Zealand rejected offering NZ citizenship to its nationals. One of its main exports.. postage stamps..

It's a small country -some say a maverick -from the former Soviet Union with a majority Russian and Ukrainian people, borders on the European Union, is very poor, and hi independence is not recognized by the UNO - not by anybody save Russia, in fact, - its citizens have the Russian passport and they still have Russian troop stationed there but not the same political regime as in Russia....

To the OP: Maldives.

I was just there a few months back. Beautiful place to vacation, but not much else to do outside of Male than sit on the sand and watch the sun set. Didn't buy any postage stamps besides the ones on post cards I sent out.

I don't know the answer to Pigeon's.
