Question about Ireland
So, I was considering visiting Ireland at some point. I was just wondering if they speak English there, or what?

Nope. You'll need to learn Irish Gaelic to even order a pint or make a purchase at a sweater shop.

Ha ha - yes most of the Irish do have the English so you'll be just fine
'Course, some may pretend to not speak English but you'll never for sure

NationMaster - Irish Language statistics
According to that, 3,850,000 speak English and 3,750,000 people claim it as their first language. Only 100,000 claim it as a second language. The population of Ireland is just over 4 mil.
Irish Language Home
According to this, only 10,000 use Irish Gaelic as their spoken language.
The bigger question is, will you be able to understand their accent even when they're speaking English?

On the other hand, the OP is from Nova Scotia --- will the Irish be able to decipher that accent?
