I guess you did.. opps, my bad. speed-reading, again.
I can do 2 years easily in England [with family].
The others... hmm... maybe when I was younger.
England and New Zealand
Greece , yeah, I can handle.
I'm torn between Chile and S. Africa at this time.

I'll live in Colombia for a half million. It's not as bad as it once was. My aunt is from Colombia and goes there periodically with her family. It sounds fine.
Also, the cost of living for the middle class is very low. So I'd wind up still having most of my 500K. Bring it on!

I'd go to most of the countries in the first 3 groups if you just pay my living expenses. Hope my modesty wins! In the case of Greece, I might throw some money your way!
The rest... I could probably do Zimbabwe for the mentioned amount. Oh, you said living as a local... then probably not.

I would love to live in England, New Zealand, Iran or Ukraine, but Iran is definitely the better deal. Tehran is one of the least expensive cities in the world when it comes to living costs, so I'm thinking I'll have a fair amount of the $1 million left over.
I wouldn't want to spend more than a month or two in North Korea and I wouldn't want to press my luck in Zimbabwe.

I would definitely do Iran... Hell, I'm even looking into paying to visit there sometime, let alone getting paid to do it.
Zimbabwe, I don't know. With their out of control inflation could you imagine what $1million US would look like in their money? I keep tabs on what's going on in that part of the world and it doesn't look good for a gentleman like myself. Rhodesia? Sure. Zimbabwe, not so much.
