How is Brazil?
I am very interested in visiting Brazil one day. One of the only turn offs is the crime in cities, but I think I can stay clear of that. Anyway, are Brazilian friendly to American guys? (I am not white, light brown skinned) And how do girls feel about non-white American guys? 
Also, what cities are best to visit? |

Brazil is an absolutely amazing place, but it's also huge, and the typical Brazilian has as much need to know how to speak English as a typical American needs to know how to speak Serbo-Croatian.
In other words, try and learn a little Portuguese before you go. Otherwise, you'll be limited in your ability to communicate.
I think the best cities for a first-timer to visit would be Rio and Salvador. Sao Paulo is huge and not as much of a tourist destination (although it has incredible restaurants). Other great places to visit would include Fortaleza, Olinda/Recife and Ouro Preto.

My friend comes from Sao Paulo. Lots of crime, so much so that if he can, he wants to raise his kids here.

Yeah, it was pretty random. Though I'd love to see Dubrovnik or Hvar some day.
But in Northern Virginia, where I live, county and school web sites appear in English, Arabic, Chinese, Farsi, Korean, Spanish, Urdu and Vietnamese. But not Serbo-Croatian.  |

surprisingly racist. i am mixed like you, light brown skinned.
the people are diverse, but you still have institutionalized racism.
youll be treated fine just because you are an American and people will be fascinated, but at the same time its pretty pathetic seeing racism in a country that really is a rainbow of colors.
