You're more likely to have a swimming pool if you are middle class family in southern France than a wealthy one in northern France.
I'm looking the wealthiest suburbs and exurbs of Paris and the number of private swimming pool is much more limited.

EDIT: I read that France is the second country with the largest number of private swimming pools, first being the USA.
Interesting about France. That surprised me. The country with most pools per capita is Australia.

yeah, my family's house actually has a pool, although now it is a bit damaged, but we used it a lot when I was younger.

In Italy, summer can be depressing because very few people have pools, you have to pay for many beaches and public swimming pools are very expensive. Also, it is hard to find lakes (at least where I live), so basically I prefer spending a summer in France than here.

Down south, almost anyone has installed air conditioning in the last few years although there are still people who believe it causes colds and cervical pain and refuse to purchase one. As for beaches, you are in an unlucky spot, i think you should try the Tyrrhenian coast instead as the beaches of Northern Adriatic is all privatized aside from a couples reserves or marshes.

I think public swimming pools cost €8-10 but there are days of the week where they are cheaper (€3 on Wednesday in my local pool). It's just that they are excessively crowded and noisy

yeah, here the pools here cost at the lowest 5 euros after 5 pm if you take an 10-ticket thingie. Otherwise it is more like 8 euros at least. I have seen many areas in France where it was more like 3-4 euros for a single entrance, although the prices are rising.

For the beach, yeah, here it is quite depressing.

Luckily enough, we have large swaths of free beaches nearby, even though they are from being the best. I think that the denser an area usually is and the least are free beaches. It doesn't help that Emilia Romagna is quite touristic

Beaches that you have to pay for. In Italy it is quite common, you pay like 20 euros for a day, you get a seat, an umbrella, facilities like showers, a bar, and sometimes music. When you walk along the beach behind those places you can not even see the water.

I think this is pure hell.

Improb, that looks like a nice beach.

After posting I remembered having been in private beaches in Dominican Republic and Mexico, but did not know of its existence in Europe. I edited but you've been faster But the private beaches I have been to are a different concept from the Italians ones, were the beaches of hotels and resorts, with entry allowed only to their guests.
