Paris/Metro card
I read that the "Carte Orange" is being phased out and replaced by the "Navigo" rechargable micro ship card!
has any one used this new card?
Thanks.

Instead of entering your "paper card" into the turnstile you have to wave the Navigo card over the Navigo reader when entering the Metro. On purchase you have to pay an extra 5 if you don't have a valid french account, i.e. the card is more expensive for visitors.

The weekly Carte Orange will become the Navigo Week (valid for a Monday-Sunday time period) and the monthly Carte Orange will become the Navigo Month.
I don't use it constantly as I do not live in Paris, but the cost for the weekly pass was around 16 and the monthly pass around 55

Paper Carte Orange don't exist anymore since february 2009.
So you should buy a Navigo decouverte card, it is more expensive (5) than the average Navigo card (free) but it the only one that you can have if you don't live in Paris area.

The numbers of trips is unllimited during this week, there is just a zone limit.
If you take a weekly (1-2 zones) you can only go in the zone 1 and 2.
Inner Paris = zone 1
Innermost suburbs (Vincennes, Saint Ouen, Boulogne...) = zone 2
Inner suburbs (La Defense, Saint Denis center, Sceaux...) = zone 3
Outer suburbs (Versailles, Saint Germains en Laye, Orly airport..) = zone 4
Outer suburbs (CDG airport, Disneyland...) = zone 5
End of outer suburbs, exuburbs and rural area (Meaux, Provin, Melun...) = zone 6
