Post News, What's the most remote spot on Earth?

We live in a technologically advanced and interconnected world. Places that were once almost impossible to reach are now accessible by road systems, waterways and airplane rides. Despite the ease with which we can contact people on the other side of the globe -- whether it be through the click of a mouse or a letter in the post -- about 10 percent of the Earth is more than 48 hours away, by way of land travel, from the nearest city.

My mother-in-laws' back pasture has to be close to the edge of the known world. One would reasonably expect it to be in rural N.C., back woods would be elevating its' status.

Tristan is very remote. The following island is also remote but not has remote has Tristan.

Pitcairn island in the Pacific has only 50 people. No airport or dock for large ships.

The closest populated island to Pitcairn is the French Polynesian island of Mangareva (population 1.097) which is part of the Gambier Islands.

Mangareva is around 1400 km (869 miles) SE of Tahiti. It is around 724 km (450 miles) NW of Pitcairn. It is a 30 hour Sea voyage from Mangareva to Pitcairn.

Tahiti is 2184 km (1357 miles) NW of Pitcairn. Republic of Chiles Easter Island is 2092 km (1300 miles) east of Pitcairn.

I'm here to end the discussion, for I live just 4 kilometers from "The edge of the world".

Not kidding you, I actually do. Some weird person named the place just that. Edge of the world. (Goes to show what kind of people live in my area. Again, not kidding...)

Apart from that, Eastern Island (is that the English name? Påskön, in Swedish anyway. If I was wrong, google that) is one of the most isolated places (islands) in the world. It's the same distance to Tahiti in the west as it is to South America in the east. Same distance as between New York and Los Angeles. And somehow it was inhabited at a time when modern ships didn't exist...

Uhhhhhh, Yes Ma'am!

When the early jesuit fathers preached to hurons and choctaws
they prayed to be delivered from the vengence of the squaws.
T'was the women not the warriors turn'd those stark enthusiasts pale
for the female of the species is more deadly than the male. ---
--Rudyard Kipling,-"The Female of the Species"

The moral is, "never argue with a woman, you will always lose, if you win the argument, you will lose even worse!
