Default Question re France's workplace harassment laws

I'd like to hear from people who have worked or are working in France and are familiar with workplace harassment there. Not just sexual harassment but also workplace bullying. With the limited amount of research I've been able to do, it would appear that French laws are quite favourable towards the employee and punishment for the harasser quite draconian. However, with the recent reports in the European media about the apparently very high levels of suicide amongst a certain French corporation's employees I'm wondering if, in practice, these laws and protections are actually working? Does a victim of harassment have any protections in reality? If harassment is reported what are the potential ramifications for the victim? How easy or difficult is it for an employee to change jobs or keep their job if they report something? Do French HR departments offer any counseling or outside persons that can help in these situations?

Thanks
