Rio de Janeiro wins bid for 2016 Olympics
I'm happy they won. What are your thoughts?

They did?! Ah. I was cheering for Chicago.
I've heard a lot of negative things about Rio in regards to crime. I hope they can clean up the city in time.

I knew the U.S. wasn't going to win. Whether it's good for Rio, I guess that remains to be seen. Hopefully, it will be.

Umm..Sydney hosted it in 2000. Again good for Rio but it would've been nice to see an American city hosting it. Oh well maybe 2020 will be our year, have them host it in DC.

Yes, I am very well aware of that; however, since the bid for the 2016 Olympics also included the city of Chicago, IL, USA, I posted it here. We're having a discussion here which includes the city of Chicago.

I don't think the southern half of the U.S. will ever be selected to represent the U.S. Olympic bid again, at least not in our lifetime.
The best bet is the West Coast, California more specifically. LA will definitely be in the mix again for 2020.
