I've been in 31 of them, and there isn't one that I would go back to if I could avoid it. But then I don't like big cities very much. I think every western European capital is on the list, but not a single one in eastern Europe. That smells a little fishy.

not really.
eastern europe really isnt that great, especially when compared to western europe. the city centers might be pretty, but once you get a little outside its usually pretty ****ty.
tbh, im not surprised that no eastern european cities are on the list.
i also think that SF should be higher up on the list. IMO it beats many of the european cities there.

NYC is simply one of the most spectacular cities in the world and there's something to be said for the NY way of life.
This thing is about CITIES not rural towns. When it comes to American cities, San Francisco is a far better place to live than say Omaha, Des Moines, Tulsa, Boise, Mobile, Jackson or Nashville.

Every city has it's problems and who are you to say that one city is a better place to live than another.

another reason China and India should not be near the G8. 2.5 billion people and they might not even have a top 100 liveable city.
Canada and Australia always do well in these lists and will continue to as long as they have lots of resources, great economies, democratic elections, freedom of speech.
anyone know where Tel Aviv ranks ? weather, culture, tourism, rich economy for the middle east has to put it close to the top 50. terrorist threats and the fact that citizenship is pretty much restricted to Jews would probably hurt it though.
