What cities would you describe as "24-hour"cities?
New York is known as the city that never sleeps. I can attest to that - had dinner there at 1:00 AM after a Broadway show and the restaurant was still packed.
But what other cities could you describe as sleepless, where things stay open late or all-night, is still vibrant long after dark, and where people are active all the time?

Not anything in California that's for sure. The cops here like to shut everything down by 2am. Pretty lame.

Not London, LA or Chicago...
Las Vegas, New Orleans, and (I think) Miami are the only ones I've visited where people can party all night (where the bars serve alcohol 24 hours). Atlanta used to be one of them, but that changed a couple of years ago.

I voted none... and considering good dining, public transportation and nightlife options.
A few of them come pretty close on one and partially 2 categories but none truly have all 3 like nyc. ... and I've had my share of late night shenannigans in all of those except Tokyo. ... I know Toronto can be pretty close and should be on the list of options those with the others.
If any I would have to say Vegas.

Tokyo and Las Vegas. I don't know, the atmosphere of the cities are awesome. I just love being out late at night, even if I am not doing anything.

Nahhhh.....
New York is really the only true 24 hour city in the country.
Las Vegas, New Orleans, Miami, and Chicago in my opinion can all be considered close to 24 hour cities (maybe 22 hours, as there are parts of all of those cities that are vibrant 24/7) but New York is really the only true city that feels alive at all times of the night outside of the financial district and Staten Island.

Well obviously Vegas since the main industry of the city is to be a 24 hour city.
Chicago has the 24 hour transit and 5am bars....24 hour restaurants, but it's a city of neighborhoods. There are 24 hour neighborhoods like areas in Lincoln Park and quite a bit of Lakeview, the lakefront - but honestly a vast majority of places anywhere quiet down a lot around 3am or 4am. It's a city I can and at times do stay up all night with plenty of activty, but it's nor a hard core 24 hour place like Vegas or somewhat New Orleans.

Most of NYC quiets down in the wee hours outside of a good chunk of Manhattan, northwestern Brooklyn and bits and pieces scattered in the rest of the city. Las Vegas is probably pretty close on the strip while some neighborhoods of LA I know stay pretty active (Koreatown especially). These cities also have the advantage of being active almost 365 days a year as opposed to NYC which definitely sees a slowdown during the winter (save for the holidays).

Of course no one would ever know this given that people who have only visited have only been to Manhattan and people in NYC who like the idea of the city being "24 hours" wouldn't actually admit to it.
I've been all over the world to just about every major city. While in all of them there is something going on 24 hours a day, the majority of any city shuts down for about 6 hours. People like to do that thing called "sleeping".
