Maybe I should have said "while driving her to the Hamptons in his Porsche" or something.
Still I think if a guy is suitably charming and athletic he wouldn't be deemed "a nerd" even if he's talking geometry. I think you give women or society too little credit. I think Americans are still able to place social manipulativeness, wealth, and a good body as determination of where a person fits.

In my expereince Russia (writ large to include most of the old USSR) is more appreciative of intellectual people, in general, than the US is.
If you have the (substantial) intellectual horsepower required to learn Russian as a native English speaking adult (6 out of the 6 people I know who have done it are either MENSA members or have quoted me SAT scores good enough for admission) go for it. You will find some English speakers of course but you *really* limit your options if you can't at least get by in Russian.
Although, I have to agree with what's been posted so far, a guy who is in poor physical condition, dresses poorly, or, worst of all, bad hygine, bad manners, socially inept...just not in demand anywhere as far as I know...
That said, all the above are fix-able with moderate effort.

This could be because Japan has one of the highest median IQs in the world. Countries with lot's of smart people will have more than it's share of nerds.
Here's proof on just how prevalent nerds are in Japan. I have read that large numbers of young Japanese men prefer looking at comics, video games and cartoon porn over dating real women.

Yeah, but that's why a lot of Japanese girls like American and other foreign guys.

You guys are sadly mistaken if you think japanese girls like nerds. They like very fasionable japanese guys. These guys are "cool" while in the US they might look too fasionable.

it's not just about nerdiness but refinement and what some consider effeminate. most women like some effeminate characteristics even in men. feminine women usually prefer more effeminate men and more aggressive women usually prefer more masculine men.
