I know Sweden well. It is indeed a stereotype which is not entirely true. Light brown (ashen) is the most common hair colour among adults. Swedish kids are usually very blonde, almost white haired. Hair darken quickly with age. Then in summer the hair is bleached in the sun. A lot of Swedish women (and a few men) dye their hair to the colour they had as kids. There are many other north and central European nations with many tall and blonde people. You can go quite south in Europe and find that. I can even find pictures of blondes among almost all white ethnic groups. It is just a matter of frequency. I would say Finns and Estonians are a little blonder than Swedes, although their facial features and body types tend to be slightly different. You can find blondes in Ukraine too. Besides, tall and blonde does not automatically make a person beautiful. I doubt many men find Kajsa Bergqvist beautiful.

Because most people know very little of Sweden they tend to only have appearance in their mind. Sweden is often confused with Switzerland around the world. Even some Europeans make that mistake.

It is more about culture with the other countries. It is actually a bit offensive.

Woah, have we opened a can of worms here. This was about beautiful/sexy women! We can do a social/cultural comparison too but that is quite another topic.

I do understand the comment about 'sluttish' women. It boils down (I think) to watching too many Mexican and South American soaps. By the way, while I've lived in the US I never knew those existed. Women here simply copy the dress in those soaps.

When I first landed I too thought they were all working girls but that left virtually no other kind......? It is a matter of dress...although there is no prudishness here.

It is also true about the blooming porn industry - but these girls are mostly college educated and they've made a lucrative professional choice for the time. I don't agree, but then it is not my life. This reputation certainly does not help my agency of finding marriageable young women for foreign gents.

I still think Hungarian women - overall - ROCK!

The size of the total population would have to be considered. A country such as the USA with 300 million is bound to produce a prettier Miss America vs say a country such as Finland with a population of about 5 million!
