I don't think Miss titles mean much. Usually white women win, or those from other backgrounds when they look more or less white. Why else would there have been be a white Miss Universe from Namibia or South Africa? Miss Brazil and Miss India is usually also whitish. Nor are there many really Asian looking Misses, despite the Asian proportion of the world population. Maybe it has to do with the jury or with the countries sending contestants.
Apart from that there are millions of women all over the world compared to whom any Miss Universe is plain ordinary, both in terms of looks and character. But nobody knows them, they lead normal lives, work at the supermarket etc.

Brazil is a white majority country so it's not surprising that most Miss Brazils have been white. What is much more surprising is that all of the winners of Miss Dominican Republic have been white (along with Namibia and South Africa - but have nonwhite women won the titles in Namibia and SA in the last 20 years? )

I don't think Asian countries (other than the Philippines) have a cult of beauty contests such that exists in Latin America. If they did, then there would be more Asian Misses (although wasn't there an Asian Miss Canada? If not, there probably eventually will be an Asian Miss Canada and Miss USA at some point - I'm sure more Californians of all backgrounds would have been more happy with an Asian-American Miss California than Carrie Prejean - has there been one yet? If there hasn't been one, something is seriously wrong....)

True. But it's hard to argue with PR having beautiful women, it obviously does in pretty large numbers.

The real answer is most likely China or India. These two countries have so many people that even if you assume a small percentage of them are the beautiful ones, it multiplies out to a lot more than other countries.

Not all ethnic groups have the same percentage of (what generally is considered) beautiful women, comparitively speaking.

the way collectively the world has viewed eachother specifically through western eyes is what's coloring the perception but only partly, it's just understood and defined because of world demographics.
asians have very distinct traits that are easily identified as being particularly different. if you look at the rest of the world's population, they all share pretty much the same features facially(which we identify with first) such as round eyes and higher nose bridge and body as well. their is a wide variety of regular differences such as heigth, hair texture and skintone but still there is a predominant similar theme. people will perceive with ease those who have features more similar to themselves as they see essentially an improved version of them in some or most regard in the other or at least comfortable since we are essentially self-centered. if the person looks too different, then they can't connect and is an affront to their ideals or produces indifference.
it is no surprise the most votes went to countries which were perceived as or are the most miscegenated, the two being brazil and america since the majority of the world's people (besides northeast asia and africa) look like a variation of those in countries like brazil or americas.
