I've heard it said that in this hemisphere, there have been four great men, who were able to create a nation at the outset, and also had the skill and talent to administer the government well once they had established it. George Washington, Jose de San Martin, Somon Boliver, and Fidel Castro.

Aquinas was correct in his exposition of the concept of invincible ignorance.

George Washington was the greatest IMO. To the nomination of GW Bush, BRRRAAAALPH ! If your going to pick a failed leader, pick a real one like Adolf Hitler. If you needed a leader for something and leading was the only quality that mattered, all other moral or ethical considerations cast aside, gotta be Hitler.

It has to be Ghandi. A man who showed so much courage, humility and strength of character in the face of so much hostility and violence and was beloved by thousands of people who tried, and still try, to follow his example, just HAS to be light years ahead of the rest.

I can't say who the best is because I don't know enough about world history. I do like the "style" of Putin and Benjamin Netanyahou. They seem worldly and presidential. I can't remember if we've ever had a president here in the U.S. who was classy and sophisticated. From Carter and onward they seem like cornballs to me. I guess that's what Americans are comfortable with - cornballs. McCain is always defensive, Palin is too regular, and I don't like Obama's urban black style and what it represents (angry at whites, race obsessed...)
