Being a cleaner couintry is highly overrated. Polio, for example, occurred only in countries with modern sanitation standards, and ws virtually unknown in poor countries. The reason Americans get sick so easily when they travel abroad is becaue their environment has been so sanitized, that they have no resistance to anything. Safer is probably not true, either, as nearly all European counries have lower crime rates than the US, and also have stricter safety standards on automobiles. Not on new ones, but old junkers are simply not allowed on the roads in many countries. and safety inspections are very rigorous. The only other term you used is "better", wiich is somewhat vague.

Why do you think the immigrants from a century ago were the "top people"---are the Mexicans coming in now also the top people? What's the difference?

Plese do not send me any e-mails from Nigeria---I get plenty already.
Very funny response!

I am going to agree that Nigeria looks pretty good. The more I learn about Nigeria and Nigerians the more I like their country.

Anyway to answer the question: The Rhythm Nation of course

Sorry, did not mean to have my posting "shout " at you in capital letters , but did not realize my mistake (poor typist that I am )'til too late , and now I can 't figure out how to edit ..
anyway , all this talk about "greatest and best " doesn't mean anything , if you are struggling for whatever reason , physical beauty around you is meaningless, you can't eat it.. and all the freedom in the world is equally useless if you don't know how to enjoy it and use it wisely.. (remember the old Janis song)
besides, I too well remember my "old" country's belief of being of superior status ..it is still the great shame in world history , but oh so pretty and fun to visit ..just a thought
(and how do I edit??)

Now, these are great nations, to me.
Scotland by far, we have achieved alot, invented alot and have so much to be proud of. Anyone that has been here will agree.

I'd have to say the US and Canada too.

Enough from me, now it's your turn.
we can easily say America is the greatest "country" in many fields like heavy industry or in sports as we can say German is the best in the medical field.
there are many nations that you can describe as the greatest nations
such as Japanese and German people.
They are the greatest nations because both of them rose again after they had entirely been destroyed in the second world war.
but I think it's not the purpose from your "article".
It's wrong to say "this is the greatest nation"
as it's wrong to say "this is the worst nation"..

I've travelled all over the world and I have to say Scottish people are very warm and friendly. Even spark up a conversation in the street.

America is by far the greatest country in the world. Nothing else even comes close.
